Blue Dogs
With the new sheriff in town, comes in the new policies of a new administration at the Harris County Sheriff's Office. In terms of how Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman [R] has been handling staff changes, etc., it won't make the diversity advocates very happy at all as he's cleaning out the Garcia staffers including African American, Latino & Asian appointees to either civilian posts or fired them altogether! There's also rumblings among minority deputies that Hickman's moves are going back to the days of then-Sheriff Tommy Thomas [R], who escalated the Good Ol' Boy System inside the Sheriff's Department so bad, it's not even funny! Hickman, of course, has flatly denied these accusations of being hostile to minority deputies, etc., saying he hasn't even finish assembling his entire staff yet. I'd like to hear from y'all including your reaction & thoughts on these developments! http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Critics-say-diversity-lacking-in-new-sheriff-s-6284551.php http://www.houstonmatters.org/segments/segment-b/2015/06/17/new-sheriff-ron-hickman-discusses-changes-to-his-department-and-diversity-of-his-staff Edited October 29, 2019 by Blue Dogs
