samagon
I liked this statement: Bike lanes would also enhance the pedestrian realm by providing a buffer between sidewalks and automobile traffic. Translation: This would be good for pedestrians because they can walk with the confidence that if a car careens off the road it will plow into all the people on bicycles before it reaches the pedestrian. Post Oak would be great to put a bicycle path on if it were in a vacuum, but the idea should be to install bicycle lanes that would easily connect into a larger network of bicycle lanes that you could get around the entire city, not just the microcosm of the Galleria area. So make Sage Road a 1 lane in each direction road with suicide turn lane in the center, and protected bicycle lanes. To compliment Sage Road bicycle lanes, add protected bicycle lanes on W. Alabama, Hidalgo, and San Felipe. Later expansion could easily connect Sage Road to a new path on Buffalo bayou that gets you to Memorial park, and since Sage turns into S. Rice just plan on keeping it going to the south. With Post Oak it ends as a freeway feeder to the south and to the north it ends into a very inconvenient almost dead end. To me, it sounds great, but to build it on Post Oak seems like one of those oh yeah, lets do this! without thinking too much about how it fits into the overall picture.
