West University And Starbucks

Recommended Posts

What?  Only one 1 Walgreens within 5 miles of me?

BTW, my SBux total did include both.  I believe it was 4500 company owned and 2100 licensed.  I added them together for the total I posted.

That's a travesty - you should call Walgreens and demand that one be built closer. You can't be expected to drive 5 miles out of your way.

Yeah, licensed stores aren't "real Starbucks." Forgive me for sounding egotistical, but most of those Kroger Starbucks can't callibrate their machines to save their lives. Yeech. I don't count them. :P

So the Starbucks inside other stores aren't the same as the stand alone ones? Barnes and Noble on Holcombe is always packed with people, is that a real one?

Yes and no. I was talking to someone the other day and a B&N that was connected to a Starbucks (the place in question was a strip mall and the Starbucks was there first? B&N moved in and just opened the wall...? I'm not sure.) I don't remember where/if they said it was. If the signs says "Barnes and Noble Cafe ... Proudly serving Starbucks" it's a B&N Cafe, not a Starbucks. (Licensed, not franchised - there are no franchises for Starbucks.) Kroger, Albertson's, and Randall's are the same thing.

The license contracts are pretty strict, however. They're to adhere to the same ideals and quality of product as any other Starbucks, that's why it's similar. They also receive coffee and (sometimes) pastries from our same distributors. But, like some Starbucks stores out there, whose managers are less than ... perfect, they can and, more often than not, go bad. It's really just a question of weight rati... er, ownership.

Hmmm, interesting. How about the ones inside Super Target? I noticed that the guys working there aren't so "grunge/earthy" looking as in the stand alone ones.

Same deal. They're employed by Target (you can tell, they wear Target nametags - we don't.) Same goes for:

Safeway

Marriott

Sheraton

Albertsons

Anything in an airport

Embassy

Hilton

Grand Central Market

Anything in a food court in a mall or college

The Great Indoors

ACME

Anything in a hospital (UK's med center alone has 3 - 6 on campus)

Dominicks

Meijer

Anything in a travel center / oasis / toll plaza / Tamarack ;)

Anything in a convention center

D&W Foods

Marshall Fields

Rainbow Foods

ShopRite

Anything in a casino

Giant Eagle Market

Genuardis

Aramark (The one in the McKinney Tunnel)

Kemah Boardwalk

Shell (Executive Bldg - Lobby and 3rd floor)

Tom Thumb

Wyndham

By the way, Sbux Haters is hysterical. Quite a few of the comments are about the licensed stores, not company-owned ones.

Edit: Hey! I'm not "grungy and earthy." I <3 Halliburton! :P
