trymahjong Posted January 23, 2013 Share Posted January 23, 2013 There is another thread on HAIF that goes into details on #42 proposalBryan Crimmings spoke at Neartown noting that only one person had gone to website to offer feedback Land Development Ordinance and Off-Street Parking Ordinance Proposed Amendments Posted for Public Review and Comment The City of Houston Planning and Development Department proposes amendments to Houston Land Development Ordinance, Chapter 42 of the Code of Ordinances. These amendments attempt to balance the needs of protecting neighborhoods and encouraging redevelopment in order to position Houston for continued growth and change. Specifically, these amendments will:Make the city more competitive with the extraterritorial jurisdictionImprove development standards that lead to a better quality built productProvide additional resources for neighborhoods to manage their futureEliminate confusion/discrepancies with the existing code The Planning & Development Department also proposes changes to the Off-Street Parking Ordinance, Chapter 26 of the Code of Ordinances. This ordinance addresses parking requirements for new development within the city. These amendments will:Update requirements to reflect the current development trendsEstablish a rational basis for determining parking requirementsCreate new incentive, options and opportunities for new and redevelopment businessesAllow the creation of alternative parking standards within a defined area to account for unique parking demandsEliminate confusion/discrepancies contained within the existing codeBoth ordinance revisions will be considered at the Wednesday, January 30, 2013, Housing, Sustainable Growth and Development Council Committee meeting at 2 p.m. City Hall Council Chambers, 901 Bagby, Houston 70002.
