I got the ridership numbers up to last year, and I should recieve info on this years numbers within a few days.

In the meanwhile, these numbers are quite interesting by themselves. I read the entire document and

METRORail Total Boardings

From reading the document, the average is 827 passengers a day in 2011.

I think he means that the average across all 2011 days was 827 passengers. So, the OTC numbers were approximately 5x that of a normal day.

Typical weekday ridership is 35-45k, with some peak days in the 50s and 60s for events. The stats indicate OTC was adding 4-5k per day above baseline, or this might be boardings at a particular station... You can tell when a major conference is occurring in town due to all the badges and suits you'll see on the train.

I saw people walking down Fannin St. from the Med Center with OTC credentials during the week of OTC. There were groups of five or six people walking south over Braes Bayou bridge. I was thinking to myself "that's a long walk to Reliant Center". Maybe they were just going to Luby's or someplace else, but still that's a long hike from the Marriott, Holiday Inn, Hilton or wherever they were staying.

Obviously we need more hotels close to The Reliant Center.
