sevfiv
Will this portion of Mykawa ever be extended north to meet Spur 5 (near existing Beekman Rd.)? It's only a 1 mile segment - does anyone know why it was left out? (utility easement/ROW issue?)
TheNiche
Will this portion of Mykawa ever be extended north to meet Spur 5 (near existing Beekman Rd.)? It's only a 1 mile segment - does anyone know why it was left out? (utility easement/ROW issue?)Funding. Here's a description of what is eventually planned:Revisions to the Mykawa AlternativeThe following section illustrates the changes that were made to the previously proposedMykawa Corridor based upon public input. The Revised Mykawa Alternative isproposed to connect at Spur 5 adjacent tothe University of Houston and to continuesouthward as a high-speed corridorterminating at the Alvin Bypass. BetweenSpur 5 and IH 610, the alignment is mostlywithin existing TxDOT Right-of-Way (ROW).It is anticipated that additional ROW wouldbe required to upgrade the IH 610interchange. A bridge, beginning north ofKuhlman Gully, would be needed to carrythe tollway over the Griggs Road, LongDrive, and IH 610 intersections.South of IH 610, the roadway would run along the east side of the existing MykawaRoad and Burlington Northern and Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad tracks, utilizing existingTxDOT ROW. Existing TxDOT ROW ends directly south of Dixie Dr.Source: http://www.h-gac.com/taq/plans_programs/mobility/documents/sh35_Exec_Sum.pdf
