andrewt
Does anyone know what's happening with the old Courtesy Washateria at the SE corner of 24th and Rutland? It closed awhile back, then was apparently sold. One of those vintage cars that has Karen Derr's logo on the side has been parked outside for a few months. Just recently, the outside has received a new coat of paint, and framing for walls can be seen through the windows. With the recently demolished National Flame and Forge, there's a lot of activity in the area. Here's a street view: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=24th+and+rutland+houston,+tx&aq=&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=29.992289,59.414063&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Rutland+St+%26+W+24th+St,+Houston,+Harris,+Texas+77008&ll=29.807899,-95.401518&spn=0.008006,0.014505&z=16&layer=c&cbll=29.807812,-95.40151&panoid=jeS0SJFU9kzUV4o6d9oXFA&cbp=12,96.58,,0,0.
aggie92
I understood from a friend of the Derr's that after they sold their house in the Heights a few months back, that they were going to renovate the washateria into a house that they would live in themselves. Fringe
I know someone who was supposed to open a washateria/bar in the Heights, but I don't know the exact location.
