editor
I was looking at the interactive census data map from the Texas Tribune, and noticed something wonderful:Loving county has a population of 82.That' up 22% from 67 during the last census.According to Wikimopedia, it's the last populated county in the nation (up yours, Alaska!): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loving_County,_TexasNew York Times article about Loving County in 2006: 1 Cafe, 1 Gas Station, 2 Roads: America's Emptiest CountyAnyone been? ricco67
I skirted by in 2001, but it was dark, and I think I was doing about 110-120 the first time. The Second time I was pulled over for speeding in the area. Thankfully only doing 80. Quite a bit of empty country out then them thar parts. LTAWACS
I found a pic of Mentone once... looks pretty "dense" for a small town.
TheNiche
Anyone been?Close, but not quite. I've traveled down US 285 from out of New Mexico just the other side of the Loving-Reeves county line. And just last year, I passed just to the south along I-20 between Pecos and Monahans. It's all a very flat area. Loving County is a place that you've really got to be trying to go in order to get there. The Google Earth imagery is neat in a way, but I'd hate to live there.
