Houston Mod invites you to join us this Sunday, October 17th (3:00-5:00 PM), for Mod of the Month.

A wonderful architect designed mid-century modern house currently for sale will be open for touring. It is located in the Memorial area of west Houston. This is a free event.

Huntleigh Section Two

Noted Houston architect Harwood Taylor designed this stunningly beautiful modern house for the David Frame family in 1958. Situated high on the north bank of Buffalo bayou, this is perhaps Houston's finest modern house. The house was restored by Stern and Bucek architects and has received the Good Brick Award from the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance. It is designated a Protected Landmark by the City of Houston. Amenities include 5/6 bedrooms, 5+ baths, swimming pool, Japanese style hot tub, 2,000 sq .ft. of decks and roofed patios. The kitchen has stainless steel counters and European appliances. Walls of glass and soaring ceilings are found through-out the house plus there is an elevator.

At 4 PM, owner Dana Harper along with David Bucek, Houston Mod board member and restoration architect of the Frame/Harper house with Stern and Bucek Architects, will conduct a brief conversation about this important restoration and discuss some of the newly added custom bookshelf units and furniture.

Houston Mod board members will also discuss how Houston Mod is advocating for the recent past on the local, state and national level, and discuss partnering with groups like Preservation Texas and DOCOMOMO US.

Houston Mod recently became the first friend organization of DOCOMOMO US, and participated with the October 9th DOCOMOMO US National Tour Day which drew over 250 visitors to Houston's Glenbrook Valley.
