TJones
I was a little surprised by this article, perhaps this fad has faded in Japan ?http://tags.gizmodo.com/5117473/nakagin-ca...t-make-it-there
Subdude
I don't know if it ever made it to the level of a fad. The only other example that comes to mind is Habitat in Montreal.
editor
I was at Habitat 67 not too long ago. Wretched looking thing. The photographers certainly earn their money on that one. A lot of people don't realize that it was featured in the recent film Blades of Glory. As for the capsule office building -- I think it's a one-of-a-kind. I've never seen anything like it in Japan, but it's not like I live there, so I may have missed others. I think the folks at Gizmodo latched onto this one because of the word "capsule" and got it slightly confused with capsule hotels. There are still many capsule hotels, though I don't think as many as there were a decade ago.
TJones
I am speaking of the whole "capsule" concept. There is more than just this building in Japan, there are capsule hotels also.
