We used to put the wrapped package up to the lamplight or sunlight to try to see thru the wrap paper. I could vaguely see Tinker Toy label or Hot Wheels or Tonka thru the paper. Of course we would throw them down when adults voice could be heard coming close. Sometimes we even camped out under the tree in hopes we would bust Santa actually coming down the chimney. Joke was on us since we had a "mock chimney" so not even a mouse could squeeze into it. I always wondered why Santa's rear never caught fire when he would chimmee down the smoke stack?
