galahad1743
Does anyone know of a reasonable and good quality auto shop where I could get a new bumper for a Toyota Corolla? The structural part is fine, I just need the aesthetic part. Bonus points if the paint will match and the process is virtually hassle-free. I can find bumpers online but who has the time? tmariar
I have had repeat good experiences with Metropolitan Collision on 16th, just west of Durham. Though they may specialize in certain kinds of cars (see their website), which may mean they're not a good fit - but I'd suggest you at least call them for an estimate.I just wish I could find somewhere I like as much for routine work as I like Metropolitan for body work. travelguy_73
Two thumbs up for Metropolitan. They tend to specialize in higher end cars, but AFAIK they don't turn any cars down as being "unworthy," LOL. They did a very nice job on my car, though it did take a return trip for some touch-up work.
Northwood
Antonio at Northwood Body Shop (North Main @ Northwood) has done lots of small projects for me. There is nothing fancy about his shop but he is a good man, fine quality and the right price. He does not have a website but he stays open late and saturdays, so just pop in. marmer
Metropolitan is not merely the best body shop in the Heights. Metropolitan is the best body shop in the Greater Houston metropolitan area. I've seen them work repeated miracles on high-end cars, and their customer service is great. Many of the high-end European dealerships sub out their body work to Metropolitan.Having said that, it would not surprise me at all if they would tell you a cheaper shop could take care of your bumper cover on your Corolla. Expect it to take longer than you might think. Auto paint takes a long time to cure.
SilverJK
This is good to know, I was wondering where i should get my paint/body work done. Is there a good exhaust shop in the heights?
galahad1743
Thanks everyone! This is really helpful information. Since when is a Corolla not a high-end European car? That salesman totally ripped me off
goastros
I had good work done by U.S. Auto Connection at 1017 West 20th. I dealt with Steve Benys. I think they specialize in insurance work but may do other work. My insurance agent had them on their list of places that other customers really liked. Their number is 713-802-1168. sevfiv
^Several years ago I was hit and agreed to have my car taken there (closest on the list of the other person's insurance pro shops). In a nutshell, the work took a long time and was done crappy. I left my car longer to have it fixed, and it wasn't the second time around. The third time a manager got involved and it was okay, but a couple months later down the road I noticed evidence of the poor workmanship. This was several years ago, so maybe something changed. SaintCyr
What about the one on Yale and White Oak/6th? They always seem to have a lot of business and I have seen some good work come out of their shop. Might be worth investigating.
Scott08
+1 for US Auto Connection. Had some work done there a couple years ago. Price was fair, work was great, and the best thing was it was done in just a couple of days.
