Vertigo58 Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Just wondered if anyone happened to see this last night on PBS. Live theater is great and the actors were perfectly cast for this show. It was interesting to see how clever each performer improvised as they did their parts. Seems like the writers must have worked for months perfecting the dialogue and song for each character. I think anyone can do this if they really tried. Everyone has talent. I don't think there was much improvisation in this production. Company is arguably the most delightful of all Stephen Sondheim's musical plays and probably one of the most difficult to successfully produce. The trick was to find singing actors who could play a particular musical instrument and perform a few simple dance routines - a rather rare combination of talent in any one individual. My current disposable income is very limited so I can't afford tickets to the Alley, TUTS, Houston Ballet, SPA, HGO, etc. I don't have cable TV. PBS and Netflix are my chief sources of entertainment. Vertigo58 Posted February 22, 2008 Author Posted February 22, 2008 PBS is the ultimate! I remember some time ago Kevin Spacey was being interviewed and he described his humble beginnings in live theater. What stood out for me was his urging everyone that had not been to a live show to make it a must do on their list. I personally am not a big fan of musicals there have been a few lately that are worthy of seeing. Best thing to do sign up on the newsletters section for upcoming Great Performances! Quote
