cwrm4 Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Does anyone know where you can by large quantities of "restaurant-style" tortilla chips, i.e. the very thin, crunchy fresh ones like you'd find at Teotihuacan or similar restaurants?Need enough chips for a party of about 50 people. Quote
musicman Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Chema Food Products 7220 Avenue F, Houston -(713) 921-4006i think they are $2/lb and only sell them on the weekend. i know they also have porkskins which is what i've had. Quote
native_Houstonian Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Or, just go to Teotihuacan and ask to buy chips for 50 people. It probably wouldn't be much more expensive than Chema and you'll know exactly what kind of chip you are getting. Quote
TJones Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 HEB has a pretty good chip. It's not HEB brand it is definately "restaurant style". They are in an translucent bag with a white label and black and red writing on it. If I could remember the name I would tell you.LOL! I called HEB, They are called El Milagro brand tortilla chips. Very good, no salt added to these so you have to salt to taste. Quote
cwrm4 Posted December 10, 2007 Author Posted December 10, 2007 Thanks for the replies. I ended up just going to Teotihuacan. You can buy a big bag of fresh chips from them for $10. I bought 2 bags, and even with about 50 people at the party, never even opened the second bag. They also sell large jugs of both flavors of their salsa for $6. Quote
