ChannelTwoNews
I was looking through several old development maps focused on the downtown area which were run on occasion in the Houston Post and this building was mentioned. Today this is the block of Houston Pavilions that is across from the Humble Tower. The preliminary stats from November 1981 placed the structure at 55 Floors, 1.6M Sq Ft with a May 1982 start date & 1984 Completion date. A follow-up map from April 1982 removed the completion date but bumped the height to 60+ Floors. The companies involved were listed as Urban Development Corporation and Treptow, Murphee & Company.Anything more substantial or was this just a rough proposal? Subdude
Wow. Amazing how many skyscapers were proposed back in the boom days. Thanks for posting those maps. I have never heard of Main Place however.
