With 180,000+ posts, HAIF can be great place to get lost for an afternoon or two of interesting Houston reading. But not everyone has that kind of time.

For those of you intro RSS and other feeds, now there is an easier way. I call it The Houston Posts.

Essentially, it's a feed that tips you off to the best of HAIF. Hot topics, unusual nuggets of information, and other important bits of news that you should know about.

There is a ton of way to subscribe to The Houston Posts. I'll list them here soon.

If you have a plain old web browser, or you don't know what an RSS feed is, the simplest way to access The Houston Posts is by clicking this link: The Houston Posts.

If you use the Safari browser, that link will automatically start Safari's RSS viewer. If you have another browser, the feed will be formatted appropriately.

If you're using another type of RSS reader, this should help:

At this point, me. The moderators also have the ability to add to The Houston Posts. And I'm going to keep an eye out for any threads with lots of stars next to them (Hint hint! Don't forget to rate the threads!)

If you or any other user has a suggestion, just shoot me a PM.

So we could just bookmark this link and check it every so often? Cool.

I guess this takes us one step beyond "view new posts."

I still think View New Posts is the best way to stay up to date with HAIF. But not everyone visits HAIF every day or even every week. The Houston Posts is good for people who only visit once a week or once a month.

But it's not exclusively for them. Many is the time a great thread slipped my attention until months after it was already popular. I think it's more of a way to drill down to the meaty nuggets you may have missed while having your daily kibble. Another way to make sure you didn't miss anything good.
