mumbles
I found a house I really like but it has one minor problem. The tubs in the two bathrooms back up to each other on the end with the pipes and the drains. You have to cut the tile wall to get in there, then probably stand on your head to replace the drain. Why can't we have decent building codes?
musicman
not sure why you started a part 2 but this description is unfortunate. if work needs to be done you'd have to go thru the tub surround. is this house on a slab?
editor
Or you could do what they do on TV -- just put a big sheet of tub-and-shower-shaped plastic over the whole thing and let the next owner worry about it!I can't believe people actually buy those things. They look like a mold haven.
mumbles
Yes it's on a slab. My only thought was to gut it, the one could be reversed, move the pipes and drain to the opposite end so they would have a sheetrock wall behind. Pipes would be pretty easy but the drain would be a major deal. The other I guess would need a freestanding tub or a closet and shower only. I bet most first time home buyers would never even consider such a thing, not having had to deal with repairs in the past.

mumbles
Your probably right since most people don't stay in the same home for very long. That is one reason I started this thread, to make people aware of the major problems builders cause trying to save a few bucks.
