"Themed" Street Signs

Recommended Posts

About a month ago on 288 at OST/Holcombe and at the MacGregors, TxDOT took down some of the old green directional signs to the TMC, some of which were fairly new, and replaced them with some "trendy" black and grey signs with chrome sign posts, kind of similar to what they did in the Galleria area in 1994. The only problem is the signs, though they look nice are misleading. One sign appears to direct people to the Psychiatric Unit by DeBakey H.S. by turning left from 288 south onto N. MacGregor. Executing that manuever will end up in a: An accident, b: a ticket or c: making yourself look stupid in front a bunch of drivers because you didn't see the "ONE WAY" and "DO NOT ENTER" signs, since N. MacGregor only runs west. The sign should point out that one should drive up to S. Mac Gregor and make the turn. Then at 288 and Holcombe, one of the fancy signs incorrectly says the crossroad is "US 288". Umm... guys? You're TxDOT, don't you know a US highway from a State Highway? Looking pretty but doing nothing I guess. That's your tax dollars at work!
