  1. Well it's raining again.

  2. Off to the thrift store with my moms. Let's see what I can find. LOL, I've been looking for an Atari 2600.

  3. @ Pachuco Boogie on McGowen.

  4. thousand dollarsen Youtube, blocking my videos that I post and shit. :\

  5. Yes, it still exsists but it's not much of a street any more. It's in down town right after Ruiz street which I beleive use to be named Magnolia back then.
  6. Okay I did a Wiki search on the Wards and I was partially right, apparently there were 4 original Wards created around 1837, The Fifth was added in 1866 and The Sixth 10 years after that. http://en.wikipedia....ards_of_Houston
  7. I was watching a news report where they showed a short film about Alief today; it's mostly African American now and is being overrun by gangs; the new locals call it "The West". It's a shame how a nice community or neighborhood can go trash with the gangs and drug deals and all.
  8. I remember reading somewhere that the 6th Ward was actually a division of the 4th Ward. Again I could be wrong.
  9. If I'm not mistaken the 5th and 6th Wards came later on down the road. The 5th Ward in 1891 and the 6th sometime after that. I could be wrong but I thought that in the begining there were only 4 Wards created. Can someone confirm or correct me please?
  10. Chilling at home, sorry not going out to see the fire works. I don't have time to deal with big crowds, no parking, traffic, stupid people and drunks. Plus I have to be up early for work tomorrow.

  11. I know that the main Houston Public Library Downtown has it all on microfilm. I was digging around working on a report on the murder of Jose Pacheco by the Long Hairs Gang and found a few articles on it.
  12. Has anybody seen or does anyone have a map of Houston showing the original 4 Wards?
  13. Yes the one on 11st is right next to Hogg Middle School and across from Andy's cafe. The building is still there but soon to be lost forever. I remember it operating until sometime around the mid 80's.
  14. Where was the 5-Points addition/sub division located at? I remember reading old books and 5-Points being right across from Frost Town/Barrio Alacran near now what is HWY 59 across from Minuet Maid Park. I remember that it was mentioned that it was made of up 5 main streets including Maple St. Thanks.
  15. Thanks for the responses but this really doesn't answer my question, Harrisburg, Stephen Austin, The Allen brothers came later, I find it hard to beleive that this area had no Spanish or Native Indian name pre Anglos. I am actally looking for pre-Harrisburg\Frost Town when the area was still Mexico and before Americans were granted land rights. But non the less thanks.
  16. What was the area we now know as Houston called/named when Texas was still part of Mexico?
  17. Sorry about that It seems like I got the streets mixed up with the Seligaman Addition which was right next to Collins. Please accept my apoligies, honest mistake.
  18. 3303 Laura Koppe St. I remember seeing an old sign that read Princess Burgers, the sign was up until a few years ago when the new owners bought the property and took it down. Can any one confirm if this was ever an actual location?
  19. There is remnants of an old Princes Burgers on N. Shepard Does anyone have old pics or records of this location?
  20. I see that Los Angeles St. sits just right outside of the map So I guess it was part of another Addition : ( but to know that Hirsch was is awesome.
  21. Wow this is cool, thanks bro. What year is this map from? I see that may of the street names changed compared from the map of 1895. What caught my attention is Hirsch St. which is the only street still there.
  22. Hi all, on my daily drive from and to work I pass in between where the old Ryon Addition and Collins Addition once meet but I see none of the old street names like Ohio or Iowa still exists but a short distance down I pass over a street named Los Angeles; I was wondering if Los Angeles street which is located very near the old neighborhood could actually be part of the old Collins Addition. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.
