I agree with Golyadkin. I was early in criticizing the frontage, but with the wall gone, you can see a bright glass lobby that will face Post Oak. It's not going to blow anyone away, but it's a good fill for the area. Better than an empty lot.

3/2/2013: Holes in the ground. Steel in the holes.

Thanks for the photo update, I didn't realize the west side was clear of the scaffold. Also, I can't decide if I think the building is really big... or the windows are really small... Either way it seems like the exterior is pretty blah. Kind of reminds me of that building at West Alabama and Buffalo Speedway.

2013 / 2 / 23: Everything is gone.

2013 / 2 / 23: The view doesn't give much insight, though the base of the crane is sitting onsite.

The sign out front was never updated to 40%, just 25% (and now 30%). The other numbers and the floor count came from a letter someone received in the mail.

Weekly update: Not much going on, though they have updated the sign to say 30% sold.

I'll vote San Felipe. The one over there is just waiting to die. Swing by and check out the business at the Rice Epicurean... I'll spoil the surprise and say it's underwhelming. Also, except for the Chase bank (as noted in the West Loop thread... one of about 7 banks inside one mile along San Felipe), it's pretty much a dead zone.

I like the fact that they shoe-horned this thing in on McCue. It makes a big presence on that street.

Hysterical.

Let me start this off by saying; 1) I know it's NBA all-star weekend, and 2) I've heard the horror stories of Galleria traffic from the last time Houston hosted it...
But, WTF is going on around the Galleria? The traffic is worse than the Thanksgiving sales weekend... and that's saying something. Who are all of these people and where are they going? Is this just for shopping?

Weekly Update: pouring concrete in the office building. Crane base on site for the Hanover, though I'm not sure it's formally set.

I'm pretty sure Cosmo is 24 (really 17 on a 7 story garage), so this should be a bit higher. Thanks for posting the info Ch2News.
Weekly update. Site for the McD's is leveled (they are filling in the hole from the foundation today).

No crane parts on site as of Friday... though they have brought in additional heavy equipment. If you drive by, you can see into the big hole on the west end of the site. I assume that's the core of the building, and it's a mass of steel and concrete.

I think location determination goes something like this....
Uptown and Tanglewood have rich people... Rich people always want more banks ('cause they all offer different services... oh wait)... we're a bank and we like money... Competitors don't matter (see point two)... Build at any cost.
I should do this for a living.

Lots of progress over the last two weeks. Also note that the painting (exterior treatment?) of the Whiteco building has changed in the background.
Construction of the associated apartment tower is going full bore too.

Agreed. I think the kirby(ish) 59 one is pretty cool. In all the times I've been through it I've never seen anyone use the car charger though (LOL). Also, I think I read online that the same bank also picked up the AT&T site next store. Either way... seems like a $hit load of banks within ONE BLOCK.,

Nice find tiger.

Awesome. I'm 100% for competition in the Houston market... though I will admit I covet my United status.

3/9/2013 Weekly Update (of the McD): They filled in each of the holes with about a foot (?) of concrete, covered them up, trenched out everything for the plumbing, put that in, and covered it up.
