  1. I was searching old newscast opens from FOX stations back in the 1980s using the music theme, "Fox O&O News Package" and look what I found:

    From WNYW-TV New York Fox 5 (1989) 7pm newscast

Jack Cafferty worked for WNYW Fox 5 back in the day before joining CNN

Let me know if you guys can find videos from 1987 on KDAF 33 Dallas-Fort Worth.

  2. Jan Jeffcoat left WFLD-TV Fox 32 Chicago last month after five years with the station. When she joined the station in the summer of 2007 she worked as the co-host of Good Day Chicago, the morning show before being moved to the Noon newscast in 2010. Now she's up and left town again....to her next gig as the host of a nationally-syndicated news show in Phoenix, AZ.

Is she the Todd Graham of news anchors who up and leave whenever they get bored with a particular city ?

  3. LTAWACS, I find it odd that Gray was being used by the old boy network management at KPRC only to see the controversy involving Lorelle and Marshall dying down and 4 years later, he gets the boot for "contract dispute," which means translation: get rid of any minority prime-time anchor as fast as they can.

Rachel McNeil is still working at KPRC and I'm wondering how long she's going to be around.

  4. Ricco67, the reason why Houston passed term limits was because nobody could beat Kathy Whitmire at the polls (she was elected 5 times as Houston's mayor in 1981, 1983, 1985, 1987, and 1989) and the conservatives and those who passed the city's term limits didn't realize that it would effect them as well (Bob Lanier's unsuccessful bid to overturn it) which opened the door for Lee Brown being the city's first African American mayor in 1997.

New York City recently extended the mayor's term from 8 years to 12 years.

  5. Porchman, it appears Sibilia Vargas has left Fox 26 and heading back to Los Angeles to be working at KCBS, the CBS affiliate in that area. I wonder if she ever intended to end her career in Houston because ever since Linda Cheek-Heinrich retired in 2002, the co-anchor spot in the mornings are cursed:

    1. Taslin Alfonso (2002-2005): co-anchored the mornings with Jose Grinan and was domoted to the 12 Noon newscasts once Jan Jeffcoat took the morning slot and Taslin eventually went back to New Orleans, her hometown to work at the NBC affiliate WSDU.

    2. Jan Jeffcoat (2004-2007): bailed on Houston and never looked back, she's currently at WFLD-TV Fox 32 in Chicago.

    3. Sibilia Vargas (2007-2010): lasted only 3 years and went back to LA.
