Former Astro Ken Caminiti dead at 41 of apparent heart attack
By ROSANNA RUIZ, Houston Chronicle
As the Astros prepare for tonight's crucial playoff game, the sudden death of former teammate Ken Caminiti is no doubt weighing on them.
Caminiti, a former Houston Astros third baseman and National League Most Valuable Player whose career came crashing down under the burden of drug and legal problems, died of a massive heart attack in New York late Sunday, his agent confirmed. He was 41.
Today Astros owner Drayton McLane Jr. expressed sadness and said Caminiti had gained the respect of his teammates for his accomplishments as a player and his passion for the game.

Residents voice concerns over airport noise
By NABEEL JAITAPKER, Chronicle Correspondent
Houston Airport System officials sought input on future plans for Bush Intercontinental Airport Tuesday and got an earful from nearby residents unhappy with present operations.
Airport system representatives met with businesses and residents at a public workshop at the Humble Civic Center.
Many discussed the future growth potential of the area while some complained about the noise the present air traffic causes.
Gather information
Kent McLemore, Houston Aviation Department Planning Division manager, said the meeting's primary purpose was to gather information before the airport's master plan development phase begins.
The master plan will provide the preferred conceptual design for the airport's long-term development and will support the modernization and expansion of the both land side and air side facilities at the airport, he said.
