Maybe they have already been leased by a cock fighting organization, hence the dirt floorsThey havent even poured concrete for the ground floor retail; it is still dirt.
Why would they not have poured concrete? Doesn't make sense to me.

Is there enough retail space in the Skyhouses for a small grocer/superette?
I think they are still empty.

Downtown is going to literally look like Sim City around New Years. My god.

Blocks 318, 317, 335, and 387 have all gotta be the next to go.
They are going to be crucial to forming a solid residential district in southern downtown. The groundwork is already in place with Houston House, Alliance, and the Skyhouse twins.
All the block numbers I listed are the last remaining entire surface parking lot blocks left fronting Main st after Skyhouse Main is built.
What do you guys envision as being the best use for these blocks directly on the rail line in the residential district?
More solid apartment/condo highrises?
Greenspace?
Some kind of shopping, grocery, entertainment?

Perspective. They look identical.
What I dont get is, Skyhouse houston is 25 floors, and skyhouse main is 24 floors.....yet they both have the same number of units and retail.
Anybody?

Ok im lost, which project are we talking about here, that is right at 20 stories? It was right at 20 stories and the design reminded me a lot of the Marquette multi-family project. Camden's is more rounded at the top, but very similar. Sorry for posting off topic.

If I were in metro, knowing that months and months and months of padded contingencies had been lost, already, I would absolutely find any possible opportunity to divert attention. Busted water pipe is a good one.
Now, may I ask what committee of 37 in metro approved a design for infrastructure of these tracks that would make all the "stuff " that needed to be replaced with the rupture of a KNOWN and EXISTING water main? Seems that Metro's design should have taken this contingency into account? Instead, the fact that a water main broke (hint, water mains do break) and destroyed critical NEWLY DESIGNED infrastructure is someone else's fault? Yes, the break was someone else's fault. But, METRO, apparently failed to consider how the break of a know and existing water main (or, for that matter, a flood.... We don't have any of those, right?) could impact infrastructure,
PR spin.
Excellent points, gotta go with you on this one.
I mean seriously, some chilled water destroyed the ENTIRE UNDERGROUND INFRASTRUCTURE of a train line?? What are they gonna do when it rains or floods, shut down the trains and replace the infrastructure every time?
I smell bull.

Good call!Does anyone really believe this?

No one, I "snuck" up there!Wow. Very cool. Who did you have to bribe to get out on the upper deck?
I got a workout too because the elevator will only take you to floor 17 unless you have a card key.
Does anyone know what companies occupy the upper "access only" floors?
Also, I know these buildings are haunted. I have to say I felt an EXTREMELY eerie presence walking in the staircases and hallways. There was no one else there but I definitely "felt" someone or something watching me. It was pretty scary.

Thats one theory!Old Air raid speakers maybe? You lucky dog! Thanks for sharing.
Maybe they played music? Or told the time? Or played bells like a clock tower?
Id really like to know.

Had a day off of work last week and decided to get a closer look at the grand tempietto of the Esperson buildings.
Here is what I saw:
Old mail chute
Gulf building
These old loudspeakers surrounded the entire balcony perimeter. Anyone know what they were for?
Nice views..
Beautiful urns...
The grand tempietto...
Hope you enjoyed!
