  1. I'd like to point out that at around the same time as you posted this statement, you also stealthily modified someone's colorful yet inherently harmless expressions in the 'Big Head on Main Street' thread. You made the world a little bit more beige...and tried to cover it up until called out on it, whereas moderators are supposed to indicate when they've edited content (i.e. "Edited for inappropriate language").

I myself am not suggesting that the questionable content necessarily ought to be restored, but in light of your statements here and your actions in the other thread, the evidence would suggest that you're a hypocrite who can't seem to follow the rules.

    *facepalm*

I got edited in this thread, in response to 20th's post. No explanation, just chopped off. Sorry Dude, just trying to add some tongue & cheek to this arena, but I guess that's not allowed if I get too close to your religeon. Guess I'll get edited again... Oh well!

  2. I'm not clear that the sperm ever fertilized the egg that it could possibly be aborted, much less that it ever lived that it might die.

Ah, Dear Niche ... thou dost protest too much! Thy egg and sperm wilt camerge' du pe' without thee - spread across the dark of the moon - thus saving the said Astro-Dome by thy esparages!

Note: Old vine red Zin, chapter 6, verse 3; 5.

  3. Yeah southern baptists and pentacostals, not presbyterians from what I've observed. And the reason, of course, is that dancing makes kids irresponsible and all want to have sex. Didn't you see Footloose?

Yes, I did see Footloose, and that's all I've wanted to do ever since ... have sex. I suppose the S.B.'s and Pentecostals would object to that too. I visited a Prebyterian church with a friend once, and a lady sang a beautiful solo, but no one clapped? What is that? Hey! Speaking of downtown skyscraper lighting ( Before we get edited )...I would agree we need to cut back, but I would like to see some lighting design that would cut the light polution, but be visually atractive as well - creative! I'll work on some ideas... meanwhile, NO DANCING, OR SEX!!

  4. Formerly Catholic hospitals that resemble protestant megachurches are happenin' places to party.

Whenever I bring visitors in from out of town and drive past St Joe's, they always say to me, "Man, I wonder how big the dancefloor is in there."

Yes, our visitors from India have commented likewise. Why don't Presbyterians dance anyway?

  5. All those refineries in Pasadena and Deer Park should be chock full of tourists and 24-hour party people. When you fly into Hobby at night, those are the best lit places along the entire Gulf Coast.

You mean they're not? I get high every time I ride past B.P. Refinery!

I would like to see dark zones in Houston, so that people could meet outdoors and watch stars, and just be cozy and quiet for a while. These could be areas where light polution was monitored & kept minimal. I really miss the alure of the night sky. I make frequent trips to the Big Bend, just to camp out, and sleep under the stars.

  6. Was it really? A safari sounds like a good idea though. I would still rather have it become a Movie Studio.

If it doesn't become a Movie Studio it would be great if the state allowed gambling in the state only within the dome. If that were to happen, I guarantee you that Houston would be one of the top tourist destinations in Texas if not the nation.

City, you've hit on the best idea so far, and - the most probably successful - IF you could get past the Baptists .... that's not gonna' happen yet.

Man, we could have the beginnings of a place as significant as the Balineese Room, right there at the Dome! Now that's a plan old Roy would look down on with admiration!!

I can't wait 'til the Baptists roll in on my post, with the, " Organized crime!!! Prostitution!!!( I am FOR legalized prostitution BTW ) The END TIMES!!!! Be Afraid!!! They'll all go to Vegas, and play, but we can't have it here!

O.K.: I've got 2 select bottles of old vine red Zin, a John Wayne movie ( The Searchers ), and a beautiful woman at the fort, in preparation for the on-slaught of Armageddon!!!

  7. Finally, a common sense policy. Pay by the pound! ... You and your luggage get on the scale, and then out comes the price. Slide your Visa or MasterCard and done.

You want to bring 4 bags? Go for it! 1 bag? No problem!

If the bean counters are running amok now... I say just go all out and do it. Charge by total poundage.

I'll drink to that Bryan! ... Free Bloody Mary's for the passengers!!! I only weigh 195 lbs. & the only carry-on is my laptop & case. Makes a nice flight. Last time I went to Vegas for a week on business, I sent my baggage UPS to the hotel a day in advance. I like to travel light, and in style... Swoooshh!!

  8. I drove by there yesterday @ 6:30 PM, and all the heads are gone! As I posted previously, there is development on the property - but, by whom?

The whole business really is disappointing to many, who looked forward to the concept. I really long for a uniquely fun place as this was planned to be. A River Walk for the Houston area would have been very relaxing, and a super hangout ... oh, well!

  9. I enjoyed the balconies at these places as a kid. Very grand views. I got in trouble with the usher for dropping a jujubee from the balcony at the Majestic, and trying to land it in the cleavage of a girl below with a low cut blouse. They took us both to the manager's office, and talked to us. I ended up getting a date with that girl, and we fell in love for at least 3 weeks anyway. Too bad they couldn't be saved!

  10. Special News Flash!!

The Presidents Are Losing Their Heads!!!

I stopped at the site today, and took some photos of the presidents falling apart!

post-9028-12696490551484_thumb.jpg It's a good thing the project, as planned failed, because the presidents wouldn't make it to the openning day!! I went inside the Washington statue, and man - these things are engineered really poorly. Someone has tried to repair them with paper mache' and paint. Looks craaapppy! I don't know where they are going to end up, but I don't want them! post-9028-12696498406789_thumb.jpg

Also, lots of construction going on, including a 4 lane, divided boulevard, drain main recently buried parallel to the boulevard. There is also a winding roadway being cut into the property that meanders from the boulevard to the lake area. Question is, who is paying for all this recent development? Could this be the developer's, "February Surprise"? post-9028-12696498784554_thumb.jpg

  11. Let's drop the one-on-one sidebar discussion here and keep it on topic.

Here! Here! Sub, and thank you for refereeing. I participate in these forums for intelligent debate, and to make myself a better thinker & person, based on the challenges, theories, and yes, provocations presented by others. May I paraphrase a movie line for a point? ... " This forum makes me want to be a better man" ...Lol!

    * Back on topic: I think this is a great deal for all. There is multi-faceted heavy investment on both sides. Lakewood's congregation has come a long way to be where it is today with solid devotion, and work. I'm speaking of the Osteen's hard work too - not in a religeous context, but business, and hard work - determination, etc. I believe that from the investment standpoint, they deserve what they have worked for. On the side of the City of Houston, again, from the business aspect, the tax payers have gotten their return.

Gary, what's your take on my post? ...Uh... without the sword and shield please...Lol!

  12. I'm actually pretty disapoointed that this development is not going through. And to think what's going in that empty space instead, A new church??

No disrespect to religion but Houston's already too bible ridden. It's not the intriguing awe-inspiring development this Waterlights district would have been.

And to the people who thought Pearland of 20 years ago was better than today? Care to share your reasons? Pearland still seems to be an exciting new area off 288.

Yes, I'm very disappointed as well. Had high hopes for the idea, and the design, but...

I'm going to love the fight, when Rev. Rick finds out there's another mega church coming to Pearland! He's not going to like that! I bet he politically pulls strings to block that from happening... it WILL be interesting!!!

  13. I drove by this site last few days, and noted they have laid the large pipes underground, as well as tilled up an area around the lake / bayou. If they are going into foreclosure, then why are they developing?

Good question about the presidential heads. I've gotten used to them being there, and it would be a shame to see them go away. I really loved the concept of this whole development, so hopefully someone steps up with the cash to bail them out, or buy them out with a better plan.

    I'll keep my fingers crossed!

  14. You mean the chinese tallow trees? Or master bland communities**?

Ok fine, it's not THAT bad. But I will be forever bitter that my office is down there and I have to drive from the city to the goat farm every day.

**I take complete credit for this term if no one else has thought of it, because I can't remember ever hearing it from anyone else

Great 20th, the kudo's are for you on this terminology! Very scientific, if I do say so myself. But, it set me to wonder the many possibilities your innovative verbage could spawn....

    Galveston: Master Canned Community

    East Texas: Master Clanned Community

    Freeport: Master Sand Community

    Lakewood Church: Master's Land Community

    Anyone else....??

  15. Remember flight attendants are there "for your safety". there are FAA regulations requiring a certain number of attendants per seat in the plane, I believe 1 for every 50. United did not remove any flight attendant jobs or capacity when they got rid of meals. SW has as many flight attendants on a 737 as Continental does.

Flight attendants ( Female ) are also there to look pretty, and provide alcoholic beverages. I personally carry an I.V. bag, marked as, "D5W", but filled with Weller's for short flights, and several of them for over seas flights. You can get them through airport security in your carry - on bags. I use the I.V. tube to run from the overhead compartment to my seat for convenience, and to spike the other passengers drinks around me. If you share, then they don't rat you out to the flight attendants. I don't eat any meals on planes.

P.S. - I am a member of the Mile High, and the Mile Long clubs.
