  1. I would imagine it won't be too long before aforementioned tattoo robber meets somebody with a CHL who will end his career. RE: Teddy Schmidt - how in the hell did that guy make bail?
  2. Congratulations to Klein obtaining its Recognized status. ENGcons, please do your research before you post. Cy-Fair ISD is the largest Recognized school district in the State and has claimed that status for the past two years (and for many years before that). Cy-Fair ISD 2009 - Recognized 2008 - Recognized 2007 - Acceptable 2006 - Acceptable 2005 - Acceptable 2004 - Recognized 2003 - No Ratings Issued in 2003 2002 - Recognized 2001 - Recognized 2000 - Recognized 1999 - Recognized Klein ISD 2009 - Recognized 2008 - Acceptable 2007 - Acceptable 2006 - Acceptable 2005 - Acceptable 2004 - Recognized 2003 - No Ratings Issued for 2003 2002 - Recognized 2001 - Acceptable 2000 - Acceptable 1999 - Acceptable Spring ISD 2009 - Acceptable 2008 - Acceptable 2007 - Acceptable 2006 - Acceptable 2005 - Acceptable 2004 - Acceptable 2003 - No Ratings Issued for 2003 2002 - Recognized 2001 - Recognized 2000 - Recognized 1999 - Acceptable Conroe ISD 2009 - Recognized 2008 - Acceptable 2007 - Acceptable 2006 - Acceptable 2005 - Acceptable 2004 - Acceptable 2003 - No Ratings Issued for 2003 2002 - Acceptable 2001 - Recognized 2000 - Acceptable 1999 - Acceptable Tomball ISD 2009 - Acceptable 2008 - Acceptable 2007 - Acceptable 2006 - Acceptable 2005 - Acceptable 2004 - Acceptable 2003 - No Ratings Issued for 2003 2002 - Acceptable 2001 - Acceptable 2000 - Acceptable 1999 - Acceptable *With as much money as Tomball ISD receives per capita from the State I would've thought they would have better rankings (conversely, Cy-Fair ISD receives the least per capita back from the State under current funding formulas)
  3. Looks like Ruby Tequila's Mexican Kitchen is opening several locations in the Houston area, beginning with locations on FM 1960 near 249 (across from Willowbrook Mall) and another in Midtown. Ruby Tequila's is a popular chain of Tex-Mex restaurants based out of West Texas. Ruby Tequilas
  4. Noticed that the other day. You can't miss that huge oven. Looking forward to trying it.
  5. Having seen how much business Willowbrook Methodist and North Cypress Medical Center are doing, I think St. Lukes is going to quickly discover they should've built a larger facility.
  6. I agree. They're needed on FM 1960, Spring-Cypress as well as the ugly part of Louetta from Old Louetta Dr to I-45. They bring some order to the chaos created by the suicide lanes.
  7. The Chronicle is reporting that archeologists are working a site off Cypress Creek where they've uncovered an ancient campsite filled with fragments of pottery, tools, arrow heads, etc possibly dating back to 600 AD. More than 1,000 artifacts uncovered thus far within 2 meters of the surface. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/6610887.html
  8. Klein is overall considered a desirable district along the likes of Conroe, Cy-Fair and Katy. Klein has 4 HS (a 5th on the way). 3 out of those 4 are considered 'good' by typical white middle/upper middle class families.
  9. My wife says it will have a Pilates studio.
  10. Interesting...(from the above linked pdf) We continue to be on or ahead of schedule and under budget. In addition,” Schindewolf explained,“we have also benefitted from an excellent working relationship with the City of Houston -- from whom we will purchase the new supply of surface water... Why was this necessary and why the rush? Seems to me, what they've done is consolidate the little independent water districts in NW Harris County and West Houston and have forced them to become dependent on the City of Houston's surface water source? So now, we're in effect subjected to City of Houston pricing. City of Houston bureaucrats, City of Houston Chloramine disinfection, Big Gov't crookery, etc.
  11. Are you effing serious? This from the same people who think the idiot toy train through city streets is a smarter idea than actually taking cars off the freeways via commuter rail. Let's see...90 mph...vs. 15-20 mph in rush hour (if you're lucky)? If I had to do it (thank God I don't) I'd take the 10 minute ride into the loop for the win!
  12. Glad you brought this up. Of course, I'm in MUD 360 as well. My H20 bill was more than twice what it was last month and I'd like to find out what's up? Usage was about the same. I noticed half the bill went to some Regional Water Authority?
  13. From Swamplot... Where Commuter Rail Might Come From August 3, 2009 – 12:04 pm “We may have commuter rail to Galveston and Hempstead as early as 2012,” declares rail watcher Christof Spieler. So who’s gonna make it happen? How about . . . the Gulf Coast Freight Rail District? “The GCFRD just advertised for and received qualifications for firms to do $2 million in engineering studies, to be completed by June 2010, for 90 mph commuter rail lines sharing freight rail tracks along 290 from Hempstead to just inside 610 and from Galveston to just inside 610. This spring, the Texas Legislature expanded GCFRD’s mission to include intercity passenger rail; despite its name, the district has already been empowered to build commuter rail. Waller and Galveston counties are now joining the GCFRD, making the district the only entity short of TxDOT that covers both of those lines.” [intermodality] http://swamplot.com/
  14. This interweb stuff is amazing... Online Police, Fire and EMS Scanners for Houston, Texas and the rest of the USA. Online Police Scanners
  15. From owner/chef Gerry Sarmiento, owner of popular Mezzanote Ristorante comes Capriccio with some pretty good reviews in Houston Modern Luxury Magazine. I hope to try this place this weekend: http://digital.modernluxury.com/publication/?i=18668&p=93
  16. If the food's anything like Gringo's then I don't have very high hopes. Gringo's has a nice enough looking restaurants (ex. Cypresswood location), but the food is some of the blandest, poorest quality Tex-Mex I've had in this city. Hopefully Bullritos is better.
  17. Some of you guys are total Debby Downers. Do you guys have kids?
  18. Zip lines, ropes courses. Sounds good to me. There are a ton of families with young kids looking for things to do. I welcome more entertainment options.
  19. Looks like a new Brewski's location is opening in the shopping center across from HP on Louetta. Brewski's other location is on FM 1960 near 290, next to Texadelphia.
  20. The big new Champions VFD location near Champion Forest Drive and FM 1960 had a big open house. Looks like a nice place to hang out in between fires.
  21. Between Klein, Tomball and Cy-Fair, Cy-Fair receives the lowest funding per student and is the only Recognized District. I don't think higher taxes are the answer.
  22. Klein, Tomball and Spring don't have the exemption? Is that correct? Is it correct that Katy too doesn't have the exemption? I didn't realize our taxes were that much lower than the above referenced areas. More info please.
  23. It's located in the original space that Alicia's occupied before they built their big nice pad site location next door.
