I've seen a (not so great) rendering of the Nano Headquarters. Also NanoHeadquarters will be near 288 just outside the loop correct? yes? no?
Here's an artist concept.
From November.
An artist's concept shows the WaterLights District in Pearland, which would include a waterway, condominiums, hotels, office buildings and a facility that would promote nanotechnology development.A local developer and a group of scientists hope to show that even the little stuff is bigger in Texas.
They want to create something called "Nano World Headquarters" just south of Houston in a 150-acre Pearland development called the WaterLights District.

They should shell it except for the basic structure and make it into a park (with lots of overgrown greenery) built upon the ruins of where the astrodome once was. It will be like our Roman Coliseum except bigger and with landscaping.
There's much more land in and around Houston that can be turned into a park with overgrown greenery. We do'nt need anymore parks! (For now)
Also the website has been updated!

So has this project already started? If not, when is the estimated construction start date? All I can see from the photo is some fences...
Yes, construction has started. Here's a pic from December. Theres two cranes in the pic as well that are most likely for the tower.

Those images look like they were created on a 1999 computer program. I love the random motorcycle.
Lol and look at the METRO train just sitting on the grass on the left in the first rendering.

Can you confirm this? Source? Photo?
Hey, don't use my words against me.
I can't confirm, source or give a photo for my previous post and I said "Chance" not "Will".

No. Study after study has concluded that sports stadia do little to revitalize urban areas.
Hmmm... If Discovery Green can make developments pop up around it, I think the Dynamo Stadium has a chance of doing the same thing.
Well he got them from the same place I did, KHOU's news video. I searched this thread for "architect" but came up empty. Do we know who it is? I thought I've asked this before.I don't.
-
^ I was wondering about the same thing. I hope the renderings Tigereye posted are the real renderings of the Dynamo stadium, the ones you posted lockmat looks like a boring high school football stadium. Also does anyone think this stadium will spark new developement in the warehouse district area like Discovery Green has in Downtown?
-
Is there any particular reason to think it won't?
The current economic crisis?
The Developer could call it off...
-
Does anyone still thinks this will break ground next month?
-
I could'nt find a thread about this nor on the Houston Water Meuseum; Education Center.

From Swamplot:
QuoteA bouquet of bathtubs by sculptor Donald Lipski will be the centerpiece of a new Houston Water Museum and Education Center in northeast Houston called The WaterWorks. Named- 1

we had to work those into the program. Below are a lot more images of the project.
Yea, its not the worlds best. It was suppose to be a gate way into the site from the bridge. The orginal idea was you where to pass between these two clean angled towers, but the prof. did not think that was interesting enough....so next thing you know it has this ugly skin....hahahahaha
Lol. I like that first building...is it around 80+ floors? Also the second building looks cool but, blue glass may have been better. Thanks for sharing this with us.

the fact that you would ask for a source and/or photographic evidence to confirm a piece of information that could be verified simply by walking over there is very odd... i mean, did you not believe him? or perhaps a better question would be do you actually think someone would just make that up?
No I did not believe him and I can't walk there (in Galveston.)
...and yes I do think he could have just made that up.
Courtesy of our friends on the Dynamo Board at BigSoccer, the most recent pic I could find. This is the site as of 1/12/09. Since then the warehouse on the left has been cleared. Thanks for confirming this.

I live three blocks from there. I can confirm it. All the warehouses have been torn down.
Yeah...ok...
Why the facial expression?Confused?
-
There will be a webcam on this..soon..
-
All of the old buildings and warehouses that were in the footprint of the proposed stadium have been torn down.
Can you confirm this? Source? Photo?

I was'nt aware of this developement on the Astroworld site until today.
When is expected Groundbreaking?
-
From Swamplot....
One of Swamplot's best tipsters forwards a link to a website featuring lovely renderings of a family of glassy office buildings and blocky parking garages squatting on the former AstroWorld site- 1

Discovery Tower, going up across McKinney St. from Discovery Green Downtown, has its first tenant- and it'll be taking the whole building.
Beginning in late 2011-about the time Hess's current lease at One Allen Center expires-

Heres a rendering of MainPlace that I have'nt seen here nor on the MainPlace website.

it looks like over night someone bumped or repositioned the cam so now it barely catches the west edge of the park and nothing of the ice....it would possibly be interesting if any of the cranes were running....but as of now it is just staring at buildings and a bit of traffic
Yeah.
Someone most likely repositioned the cam and as of now its staring at Disco Tower.

its insane to think it was the biggest medical center in the world and that its doubling in size.
Its still the biggest medical center in the world.
Houston is going into a new direction. (In a good way)

The water wall has been there for years now...
TMC has been booming like that for a while.
Its like a mini Dubai.
It will also almost double its current size in 2012.
