That sign's been there for eons. I remember seeing it last year when DG opened.
This is the one you saw last year, has been there since they tore down the Banquet Hall.
(5 Houston Center on the left)The pic I previously posted, that sign (thats looks exactly the same but on a different side of the parking lot) has been there for about two weeks.
Note:Toyota Center is in the background.

Are you sure that sign is new?

Plans for the Ashby Highrise were rejected by the city for the 9th time last week. But . . . this rejection appears to be a bit kinder than the others have been.

What was their stated reason?
The Concern of Traffic Problems, the reason they rejected the proposal so many times before.

not sure i'd call this midtown like khou is calling it. this is more 4th ward. here are some conceptual plans.
Yeah abc13 called it Midtown as well, here's a rendering from abc13 with color.

The Houston city council approved a proposal for a new park in Midtown today. The park will be surrounded by the walls of a church that was once severly damaged by a fire in 2005. The park will take 2yrs to be completed. I'll post more info; renderings later.

Yeah Lol.
Should this thread be combined with the 'Houston Dynamo Stadium Talk' thread in the 'Sports and Stadia' section?
-
I just saw the stadium on KHOU. It looks nice! They showed a better rendering on T.V than the one on their website.

New Dynamo stadium is nearly a done deal
From Khou... I just post this in the 'Dynamo Stadium' thread a few seconds ago lol.
HOUSTON -- The Houston Dynamo are finally going to get their new stadium. They cleared the final hurdle this week by getting funding from a Spanish bank based in Madrid.
The Dynamo is paying about $60 million toward the cost of the stadium.
The City of Houston and Harris County will pick up the rest of the tab.
The stadium will be built across Highway 59 from Minute Maid Park where the Houston Astros play.
It will seat 21,000 fans and will have around 35 suites.
The Dynamo say they hope to keep the average ticket price under $20.
Construction will begin in the fall and is expected to take about 18 months.
The Dynamo plan to play their season opener at the new stadium in 2011.

Since March of last year, [Matthew] Morgan and [Kevin] Kirton have submitted various versions of their permit application eight times, and the city has rejected it eight times.Since one definitition of insanity is taking the same action repeatedly and expecting a different result, some observers have speculated that the developers were building a record for a lawsuit.
