  1. I went ahead and poked around the internet a bit to see how long the Kansas City team has been looking for/talking about a permanent stadium. It appears that they have been bouncing around the Kansas City metropolitan area since approximately 1996.

So we have to wait four more years???? :(

  2. Don't take this the wrong way, but what was the point of posting this?

    Just to poke fun. wub.gif

I keep thinking of all the reports that a decision will be made in "two weeks" and then that turns into almost two years...and now Kansas City! is building a stadium.

I hope to see it get built but am skeptical.

  3. It's worth reading the whole article...

The goal of the project, he tells GlobeSt.com is that of a travel center to cater both to the airport's Consolidated Rental Car Facility. As a result, there are certain things the Houston Airport System is requiring from Midway, including a convenience store with gas station, a sit-down restaurant, a fast-casual restaurant and a flight information board. Other than that, the site could boast a small office component measuring between 20,000-40,000 square feet, additional retail and maybe a hotel.
  4. Some guy on Channel 11 said she is inheriting the worst financial mess any mayor of Houston has ever inherited.

So what does that say about White? What did he do to get Houston into the mess he's talking about? Things like Discovery Green, Dynamo Stadium etc? I thought people like him a lot, I guess it was somewhat of a smoke screen?

  5. More than five years after announcing it, the Asia Society Texas Center will break ground on a headquarters-gallery and performance hall in December.

The project was announced in 2004, but it was delayed after the Asia Society put it out for bid in 2008.“It was not a good time in terms of prices,” said Martha Blackwelder, executive director of the Asia Society Texas Center. “Steel and concrete were at their highest.”

  6. Is this the one that was going to incorporate older buildings into the project? We need to find that thread. I think I remember it sounding like a project that was well on it's way to getting done and not just some conceptual deal.

edit: found this so far, but it doesn't sound like the same thing...

Here is the America's Plaza project website. Either that rendering was just a proposal or it's next to the real American's Plaza and they're just calling it the same thing.

  7. I was sort of thinking the area you were talking about was just northwest of The Woodlands, next to where Woodlands Parkway ends, but really you're talking about a place pretty far away from The Woodlands.

The Woodlands development is coming up on reaching capacity for development, right? What will the same company do next, anything? Are they looking to expand their territory at all?

  8. Agreed. We'd probably get there ok, but the forcasted temperatures would leave icy roads to take home.

    Salty roads people!

Also, I thought most were inner loopers?

  9. ...so we bring our own food, because we like places that let us control our own nutritional intake. That is an essential factor in choosing venues...really.

Join us Friday! We always have good food. Muselixman brings some of the best.

    Where's it at? 307 Travis?
