I read a blog that said the most effective way to get people to do what you want is to tell them :)

  2. Channel 13 just ran a tease saying that there is a highrise proposal that could change the city's skyline.

...and that's all it was, a tease. It was more about the new high-rise ordinance and talked about Ashby a little. They kinda made it sound like it's still a possibility.

That's a shame. It's always nice to know what's going up around here.

a few years ago, while changing careers, i spent a few days looking at everything i could get my hands on. most of the work at home jobs i found are contract work (private contractors: technical writing, programmers, etc. basically, jobs for people with existing experience and credentials in a given field.) medical billing, admin....all require investment in equipment and sometimes training. good luck!

I agree, but for a different reason. The NYC charter refers to it as the "City of New York." Other New York cities take the same approach. For example, Albany is the "City of Albany." Contrast that with the Oklahoma City, OK charter, which refers to it as "The City of Oklahoma City." My two cents...

Because they're new and will cause me less problems. And they are much more energy efficient. Why wouldn't I?

Because they tend to cost more per sq. foot, they cost more in MUD taxes and in most cases they are not guaranteed to be more energy efficient, especially if you compare a de-forested new development to an established, treed neighborhood where homes are decently well-shaded.

Moreover, most new developments are located in distant sprawl areas, which increases your commuting costs (and probably medical bills due to stress).

Like a buying brand new car, the smart money lets someone else take the initial hits, then you can come swooping in later and reap the rewards of their starry-eyed expenditures.

As far as "less problems," you've never actually dealt with a home builder, have you? new does not necessarily equal quality, nor does it necessarily equal problem-free.

Open your eyes to the gem neighborhoods and homes out there!

  10. aaaaaaand, he's back again. Although I have nowhere near the wealth of knowledge you and others have, I have found rehashing the same topics a little boring. And to think you guys did it much longer and more often than me. I'm mainly here to check out the new developments. Maybe HAIF will be hoppin again in 5 years.
