  1. Nope - didn't make it up, I live right nearby and have watched them tear all the warehouses down. I'd say half my posts over the last few months were following the progress of the warehouse demolition.
  2. All of the old buildings and warehouses that were in the footprint of the proposed stadium have been torn down.
  3. They're somewhat encouraging. I hope they stick to that if the stadium goes through and focus on building a strong community area that works with the continued development of homes surrounding the stadium.
  4. I wonder how this will affect the Electric Car company that has it's sales place right across the street.
  5. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be surprised by. I live by there and drive right next to Minute Maid every day.
  6. I realize Minute Maid has a lot of parking, but what they have doesn't begin to cover the overflow parking that comes into the streets in the proposed soccer stadium area. People go out of their way to save a few buck and park and walk from those streets. Unless parking is planned well every street surrounding the new complex will become a parking lot. Maybe they could do something like Midtown and have residential only parking in front of the homes. That would at least simplify things for the residents in the surrounding area.
  7. They've been stripping the windows and wiring and whatnot from the largest warehouse in the proposed area. There's only 2 warehouses remaining in the area now. They're cleaning off the site of the last warehouse that got torn down last week. All that remains are the slabs.
  8. As I was leaving this morning it looked like they would finish tearing down the third warehouse completely today. There were also a large number of vehicles and a 5th warehouse and it looked like they might be prepping it for something today or next week.
  9. My main concern is if they do move forward with the stadium, they take into consideration the homes in the surrounding area and try to make community oriented improvements with the stadium so everyone benefits by it. If they do move forward with it, they need to put significant thought into the parking arrangements. Where would people park - is there enough space in the land the city purchased to build both the stadium and adequate parking for 25,000 fans? Who would purchase additional land for parking if it was necessary?
  10. Yes, they finished up tearing down the first two warehouses last friday or saturday morning. The building they're tearing down today I think was a city building that was boarded up in September.
  11. A fourth building is being demolished today. They haven't started tearing down the building that has had the siding removed yet.
  12. Two warehouses in the proposed stadium area have been demolished. A third warehouse has had all the siding removed and looks ready to be torn down also.
  13. Sorry. I'm looking for more sources to verify what I have heard.
  14. Thanks. Our own fault. Do you by any chance know where we can find out details on what they're going to build (plans, infrastructure, etc) so we can see how they're going to fit a stadium in the space the city bought? Thank you. I am not against the stadium. I am just concerned on how they are going to plan it out considering it is as close as it is to home complexes. It is parking I'm curious about. That area is overflow parking for the Astros during their games. If you know of a source to find details on what they're building it would be greatly appreciated. I also apologize about the shout back at TheNiche. I should know better than to get mad at trolls.
  15. Wow. What an incredibly rude response. I have no issues with any color person in our neighborhood and I think that the light rail is great idea. Houston would benefit from more mass transit. You must be a raging bigot, or am I making assumptions? You're definitely a jack @ss. We bought the house in the area we did because we like the area and hope to help this area grow. I just think there are other ways to promote growth than building a stadium in an area that's trying to become it's own community.
  16. We bought a house at the beginning of the year right next to the proposed stadium site. We weren't given any indication about the stadium going in when we bought and did a search but didn't know that would be something to look for in the surrounding area. Our complex and a few others are not thrilled that they're building there - where are fans going to park? This stadium site is poorly planned! But for those of you who are curious - they've posted TCEQ permit signs that read 'proposed dynamo stadium' and will be tearing down two warehouses soon. Our small neighborhood does not want this stadium there!
