It's not classically beautiful and it does look like something that a kid would play with in the tub, but it has huge whimsical value, and so I like it. Same with the new courthouse and the Fed. We have enough "serious" brutalist architecture to offset it and, as dbigtex observed, what is unpopular now might one day be a world recognized classic.
I couldn't have put it better Danax. I'm guilty of liking all three buildings too. I guess we just have bad taste
OH well

I clicked over to the chron to see how the 'Stros were doing. Man, feels pretty bad losing to the Cards especially seeing how bad the Cards lost against the Mets earlier this week.
I just keep on telling myself "It's still really early in the season"

Interesting!
Wish there was more info on it. Looks like 50 plus floors. Residential/ mixed use is what downtown needs. Hope this gets off the ground.
What's at Texas and Main now?

I like Market sqaure, I would replace or get rid of that awful sculpture though. Maybe add a chess table and concessions. I think the development of the surrounding buildings (that defunct Mexican restaurant)and surface lots is key to the park's vibrancy.

611 Walker is the Bob Lanier Public Works Building.
The City Hall Annex building is at 900 Bagby.
yeah I knew someone would catch that . Didn't have time to go back to change it.

Go to the city hall annex buiding at 611 Walker. Ask the person at the desk, they'll point you in the right direction. If my memory serves me right. Good luck

Frankly, I think it needs to stay in the general vicinity of it's current location, but needs a north/south if it stays on the line instead of the current east/west alignment.
Maybe for quik fix. But ultimately the intermodal would be ideal

I just talked with an engineer today that says this thing is a go. They are moving people in to Houston to start on the design.
BTW, I was at the Gaylord in Grapevine last year for convention. As a group of us were waiting in line to eat at one of the "Riverwalk" themed restaurants, the waitress asked us if we wanted to sit inside or outside. I looked up to the ceiling as if to ask? huh?
It is a pretty nice place.
Thanks for the update.
Did your friend happend to mention an estimated start and or end date

Another redevelopment plan in the works?
I don't remember, how far is this building from the future HP? does it boarder it?
If not it's still great to hear that this building will be back in use and better yet it will be residential

Thanks for the update/link.
That would make ground breaking sometime next week, wait and seeThe Houston Pavilions is scheduled to break ground by the third week of this month, according to its developers -
I e-mailed the GHCVB again and axed them about it. They responded, "possibly next week, the equipment is on site".
Besides the containers and fencing(believe someone mentioned) what other equipment is there?
Any pics?

I was right all along. But, every time I get on this thread the dates keeps on backing up. First, y'all said this spring, October, now it's November. Next, someone going to say ground breaking in 2007.
This really is a laughing matter.
You also said it would never get built
Northline Commons Shopping Center Developments
in Points North

Don't know if there's a thread on this so here it is. Feel free to merge if there is.
I went to Northline Mall the other week to get a haircut. At "Mikes" (looks outdated but cheapest, fastest, best bald fades in town, the chicas there aren't too bad either). Anyways I noticed just about everything there was closed or no longer there. The only places still there besides Mikes was some shoe stores and HCC.
I asked the lady cutting my hair what was going on. She said that Nortline Mall is no longer Northline Mall, that it's going to be the Northline Shopping Center. And that everything will get leveled. I'm sure most have seen the "open air" shopping or group of strip center's going up. What I didn't know was that their will be a Walmart going up aswell.
I'm really not too happy about that. For the most part because of how the other Walmarts around town have gone to crap. Sure the over all change and additions can't be any worse than what's there now, can it?
Maybe the light rail stopping there might make the developers want to make the Northline Shopping center shine. One can dream
