Bayou City Outdoors - A Walk in the Woods AKA Hiking Memorial Park Trails July 12, 2014 Meet at 8:45am and leave at 9:00am We meet in the Rugby Parking lot Memorial Park, known as the Central Park of H-town, is an amazing 1466 acre park (one of the largest in the county) right inside the loop! Trails are a mix of hard packed dirt, sand, trees and tree roots. Even with the loss of trees from the drought, it is still green and wooded. Join us for an hour and a half quick-paced hike through some of the lesser-known (and a little more adventuresome) trails our park has to offer. Wear tennis shoes or hiking boots, it’s easy to bang a toe on a tree root. And, there’s some "elevation" in the park that you wouldn’t expect from just driving by. Remember to bring water; there are no water fountains along the trails. As long as it is cool out (70 or less), this is a dog friendly event that your canines can enjoy with us. They do need to be on leash and don’t forget your doggy bags. After the hike, a group is going to the Black Walnut Café @ 5512 Memorial Drive. For breakfast and coffee. Here’s what our friends at GHORBA.orghave to say: “Memorial Park offers a convenient escape from the concrete jungle of Houston with seven miles of dirt trails. Trails are marked and named by their “Color” of trail markers.” Photo by TripAdvisor.com Please, check the meeting location map on the Bayou City Outdoors site calendar event details: http://www.BayouCityOutdoors.com Additional info call 713-524-3567 or e-mail Kelly@bayoucityoutdoors.com Additional info call 713-524-3567 or e-mail to Kelly@bayoucityoutdoors.com RSVP at http://www.BayouCityOutdoors.com

March 16, 2014 Bayou City Outdoors Graffiti Art & Food Truck Bike Ride Market Square Park (in front of Niko Niko's) 301 Milam Street 77002 1:00 – 4:00 pm Have you noticed the outdoor artwork adorning the city these days? Graffiti has moved from outlaw to street art, and some of the top artists and newcomers are painting it up right here in Houston. We’ll be riding around H-town checking out some of the more prominent and promising graphics to be seen. Most of the ride today is on the streets of Houston, so DON’T forget your helmet – if you do, we will have a few to lend. We even have a private showing scheduled at the art studio of Aerosol Warfare! We’ll wind down the day at the Leeland Street Food Truck Court – a flash mob of food trucks that changes every Sunday afternoon, beer and sodas are also available. So bring some cash, your wheels, your helmet and see art like you have never seen it before, from the seat of your bike! No bike? No worries! You can pick up a bike from the B-Cycle kiosk around town: http://houston.bcycle.com/home.aspx Or, go to one of your local bikes shops like: West End Bicycles @ www.westendbikes.com, Bike Barn -@http://bikebarn.com/, Planetary Cycles @ http://planetarycycles.com/, or Houston Cycling Centres @http://northwestcyclery.com/. Meet at Market Square Park in front of legendary Niko Niko's - grab a bite before we head out if you want! Parking: There is an abundance of on-street parking in downtown. Metered on-street parking is available Monday-Saturday and is free after 6 pm and all day Sunday. Make sure you feed the meter when applicable and always pay close attention to City signage. Never park at a red meter or if the street has red markings.
