See, I'm involved in this little informal contest to squat the tallest building possible. I'm still the winner with the Savoy at 17 stories, but I need to beat my own record.
does anyone know whatever happened to this guy?
does he still post here? maybe under a new handle?
thanks.

I am new to your forum and I would like to tell you about a unique project with an architectural twist to it. I am involved with a project titled "Inversion" at the Art League Houston (see Art League web site for press release). I am collaborating with fellow sculptor Dean Ruck to structurally alter a studio building prior to its demolition to make way for a new building. This is not the first time Dean or I have been involved with using condemned buildings or alternative sites for installations. Past projects include
"O House" and "Alchemy House" in the westend about ten years ago.
I would like to find architects/developers/owners involved with the removal of old buildings for future projects. I see potential in old buildings that have outlived their functionality and infuse new life into them with artistic action prior to their demise.
I would also like to get your feedback on our project from architecture enthusiasts. Please drive by the Art League on Montrose Blvd(next to Texas Art Supply) to see the project. If you would like to discuss project, we will be on site May 7 and 8.
about what time will you be on site, may 7 & 8? thanks.

Some discussion on Central Bank here.
i actually was wondering if the damage done to the lower windows was as recent as it seemed. it would have been easy to shoot an interior photo through the unpaneled broken window except that the huge curtain would have been impossible to move through the hole and i did not want to be blamed for breaking the window.
also, thank you for the link. i am happy this site has so much 1st hand information.

so this is my first post and i am really appreciative of the amount of information here.
i have been wanting to photograph the central square (after driving by and seeing that huge clock a few blocks over) and by the time i get around to it there are fresh huge plywood boards around the first floor and broken glass in the street. are the boards really that recent? this was on friday around 4pm. there was actually one more newly broken window without plywood over it and glass in the street. i was only able to photograph the escalator and a wooden sales desk through the window. anyone know what happened?
i have many, many questions about a few of the older houston buildings but i figure it is best to search this site for previous posts and ask whatever has not been covered yet.
thanks

jo jos! my grandfather and i had breakfast there almost every sunday (the location off of 290) i mostly remember the large bubble window in front, wood paneled aquariums and the ponytailed waitress politely flirting with my grandfather by name as he read the post.
