good selection but thats where it ends. place is designed terribly. its laughable some of the design cues they used. random enclosure that doesnt utilize all the back patio. random enclosure that makes those waiting for the bar squeezed in unnecessarily tight. very random, our group all said they wouldnt go back
Yep, they have the same design flaws at the other 2 Bronx Bars - tight spots and less than 500 ft of space. 20 people inside = crowded and can't move.
Edit - Oops, I thought you were talking about Bronx...sorry =)

Did anyone see the Houston Press story in the current issue about Bronx Bar being racist? I wonder if its going to damage business at their locations.
Edit: this one http://blogs.houston...internetexp.php
Pretty amusing article actually, from the title: "Bronx Cheer: Black Music Allowed at Rice Village Bar. Black People? (Allegedly) Not So Much."
Also, that they turned away a black guy who was from the Bronx, heh.
I can TOTALLY vouch for that being TRUE. I had my 25th b-day party there and my invite list included all races. I literally had to embarrass the heck out of the door douche to let my black friends in. I basically called him a racist in front of the crowd, got the manager out there and called him a racist, and then he let them in (all 2 of them). I really didn't want to stay there after all that, but it was already 1:00 a.m. and I was too drunk to round up my gang and move.

Took this yesterday, it's right across the street from the Shell on Washington... Mannequins with dresses in the windows...? A new resale shop? Another Dean's Credit Clothing? There were more dresses hanging (randomly, not on racks, that I could tell) inside. Looked like they were adding a little bricked patio with palm trees on the side too.
Anyone know what it is?
I have been wondering about the mannequins too! They have graced the windows for about a month now. Whoever has moved into Casa's needs to take down the catering signage

The tunnel under Commerce Tower reeks of funk every single day...I can't walk through there without holding my breath. That new food court is right in the middle of the funk cloud

St. Rose of Lima MDO program is great...not in the Heights but close by in Garden Oaks.

Wow - what beautiful shots!

I signed up for the half Friday morning. By lunch time on Friday, the Houston Marathon website reported that over 13,000 had already registered!

Those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers for marks on the walls. Don't ask me how scuff marks get on my walls, but they do, and this "magic" eraser really does work.

Yes - just read this past topic for more info: http://www.houstonar...?showtopic=2489
I would keep in mind these are opinions...you can actually just google this place and find all kinds of info..factual and opinion

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet or not, but Sawyer Park was open yesterday for the Home Run Derby.

I'm kicking it old school tonight and going to Benjy's in THE VILLAGE!
That's what I'm talking about - relaxing on the couches upstairs with a nice mojito - yum!

Since clearing the trees at W Little York and Hwy 6 an old home, that sits on the banks of the bayou, was exposed, and I was hoping someone here may be able to shed some light on it. It looks to be at least 75 to 80 years old.
That is so strange! Were you able to peek inside the windows or anything?

I found HAIF when I googled Raven Tower to find out any info on it (and still haven't really ) - it's the big weird looking watch tower structure on 45N near N. Main.

It is according to this LA Times Travel wrtier. He chose Star.

I have never had Brother's. Double Dave's is pretty good, I must admit.
Wow - I'm kinda shocked about Brother's. I mean I like Brother's and all, grew up on it, but I thought only north siders knew about it
I like Barry's on Richmond, but my ultimate fav is Star

The '04 plan would be oh so awesome...until a hurricane comes along. Darn 'canes!

Anyone know what the Social is like now days? I haven't been there in about 5 years when it was the only club in that area. Also, anyone know of a good bar on Washington to watch the fireworks for 4th of July?
The owners totally revamped the Social and it's awesome inside, but it's dead dead dead. I mean, I still like to go there, esp on Friday nights to hear the DJ play 80s-90s hip-hop, but the crowd is always slim.

The title explains it all. I'm glad to see them finally resurfacing it. It's been in bad condition for as long as I can remember.
Yep, I agree...drove down Bissonnet yesterday to the museum district and it was a mighty bumpy ride

Knew it was coming, but the confirmation makes me sad. Get your last exterior pics everyone.

Oh my gosh, Flipper - what a beautiful job! Love the floors in the second bathroom!

Anyone have new news to share? The last I heard was about a bulldozer parked on the property ready to go.

I've never been to Greenspoint, just passed it by on 45 north. Is the mall and the surrounding area similar to Sharpstown? Do these two areas share a similar story?
IMO, Greenspoint and Sharpstown were once both nice malls in nice areas, but declined. To me, I think the "feel" of Greenspoint is more similar to Northwest Mall than Sharpstown.

I found this picture of the 70's-riffic Foley's while searching for pictures of the mall's original waterfall/restaurant:
Oh my gosh - what an awesome photo!! All of the wood on the outside of the escalators was unfortunately pained white in the 90s.

I second Lazybrook and Timbergrove - both nice neighborhoods. Maybe Shepherd Forest? You can find 3 bed/2 bath there.
