Yes, there is one like that. I've posted in it, including putting up a listing of all the original stores when the mall opened in August 1976. The problem is that it is in the "Other Houston Neighborhoods" section. It's not in this Historic Houston section, where it probably needs to be. It's entitled "Greenspoint Mall: Any memories to share?"
This should take you there:

There's a couple of threads there that actually belong in Historic Houston.
Yep, pretty much the same topic.
Can these be merged, please?

Department store, I think (Battlestein's, maybe?) and then offices.
wow - I had no idea - thanks!

I pass this building daily and haven't seen anything going on. They removed 1 small strip, then stopped. It looks to be in such bad shape - I would be shocked if it were turned into a hotel. I wish that were the case, because it was once a beautiful building, but it looks baaaaad. Also, there is a small narrow old building next to it. It's closed off to the public, and when you walk in front of the old doors, the smell would knock you over. Anyone know what that once was?

I really liked the architecture of Grantham. Heck I liked just about everything about that school particularly the fact that few ghetto students attended there (they all went to Stovall).
I went to Stovall, and we were not all ghetto. Funny thing is we thought the same thing about Grantham

I went into Aldine High two years ago and it was still like that... at least in the boys room. I have no idea if it was like that in the girls room two years ago or if it has always been that way.
I went to Aldine int he 90s, and the girls room had doors

Yeah, I took that one from the Hilton a couple years ago.
These are the best photos I've seen in a long time - thank you so much for sharing! I hope you don't mind me asking, but what type of camera did you use? I'm in the market for a new one.

There is a Maggie Rita's in the tunnel (Downtown Houston) and it is no bueno. An inch of grease sitting on top of my food is no good.

Wow, so much for a friendly discussion. Y'all need to calm down a bit and discuss this like adults. Lively banter is fine, but this has gone way past rude and obnoxious. Seriously.
Ugh - totally agree.

Why would the radio station fire them for playing a Houston artist? Doesn't make any sense.
It's a long story. Check out the latest Houston Press for the story...Trae is on the cover.

Isn't this possible walmart location still a rumor??

Thanks for this info! I've seen that first house in Spring from the outside many times and always loved it. There are some neat homes around that area (45/Cypresswood) in North Hill Estates and Enchanted Oaks. Lots of character in those neighborhoods!

So is there going to be any street-level retail for Main Place?
Ok, this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay late, but I haven't read any posts in a few weeks. Anyway, the manager of the hotel across the street from Main Place told me that Banana Republic is rumored to be street-level retail. I'll believe it when I see it!

Thanks for posting this! I hope the brick-paved streets of Freedmen's Town survive.

Is the Dillard's still open? I know it's an outlet Dillard's, but anytime I have ever passed the mall (day or night), it looks closed.

As a kid, I passed this place all the time too since I grew up in the area in the 80s, but I remember it as a lit up, vegas-like sign. Am I way off ? haha

I hope something good happens for Greenspoint as I grew up going to that mall. But, sometimes I just wish it was put out of its misery.

Thanks for posting that link, NenaE - so interesting! So the Beaconsfield is still standing?

Ha...that's actually kinda funny. +1 for you.
But seriously, who wouldn't want to try Gatorade or Dr Pepper gum if they haven't? (and like the beverages, of course)
I loved Gatorade gum! I would beg my mom to buy me a pack everytime we shopped at Sports Town across from Greenspoint Mall. That's the only place I remember seeing it. Loved Sports Town too.

Wow - 13 deaths related to neglect - strange.

I like Luling on 610/Richmond.

That ugly hotel is still there! It is still standing tall! The only thing i saw was the little building next to it being demolished a few weeks ago.
The little building was the original Savoy...the one still standing is a newer addition...who knows how long that one will stand. They tore down the older one because it was falling in on itself and bricks were falling from it creating a danger.

I get depressed whenever I tune in to that station. Something about it is so dreary...
Haha - me too! They show depressing shows, like Heat of the Night - ugh. But, I do tune in to watch Cheaters (I know it's wrong, but I just can't help it). Now where will I get my fix of watching the host ruin lives??

I found this pic of the General Cinemas Greenspoint 5 circa Christmas 1977. I think this theatre closed around 1996.
This pic is awesome- thanks for posting!

This building looks worse in person. The "heavy" masonry walls aren't thick enough to pass as load-bearing. Although this design feature helps identify the style as Post-Modern, I just find it irritating.
Can we make our own Houston nominations? I nominate this pile of crap:
Right on about that pile of crap! What is the deal with all that jazz on the top...too sassy.

Is that place open to the public? I would love to walk inside and just look around.
