  1. I was wondering if anyone has heard about the latest on the developement of the old Six Flags Land that was purchased by a development company. I read somewhere that it was going to be a mixed use development but I've seen nothing and was wondering if something's changed. Any updates would be appreciated. I live near the area. Cindy
  2. I would like to hear more about your idea. ARe you thinking of the developement for low income family housing? Or are you just talking about a developement of some 1200 to 1800 sq ft homes for starter homes? I think that in today's market 1800 square feet homes are considered small and the market for them would be small. However, I do think there is a market for first time buyers that puts them in a close in neighborhood and is different that those 3 story boring structures - cookie cutter (townhomes) that are going up everywhere in the midtown, Camp logan and other close in areas. Those townhomes can sell once but they don't sell easily the second time. They are geared toward younger singles or couples with no kids. Just my take on it. As for Braeburn Valley - I have seen so many AWESOME homes that would be great redo's but I've been concerned about the area. It's good to hear that you love the area and are looking to build there.
  3. I don't think you're going to find exactly what you're looking for in a City where the population is almost half and half - Hispanic and Anglo. The black population represents about 15% of the population and Asian I believe is 7%. My numbers aren't exact, I'm going off of memory (which seems to be fading) but they are very close. Houston overall is very ethnically diverse and if you spend anytime here you will experience it. The newer areas have the better schools and as many people mentioned Sugarland is a good choice. The nice thing about Sugarland is that while it's a suburb it's pretty close in to the City. I am an inner city person and base decisions on where I live based on the house I can afford and the close proximity to what I like to do. Kids go to Private School. Good Luck!!
  4. I'm a Willow Meadows resident and can highly recommend the area (off West Belfort and S.Post Oak). There is some new construction however the majority of what takes place in this neighborhood is renovations - lots of renovations. Many older residents who've lived here for MANY years dying and younger people moving in and renovating. Infact, that is the reason why we purchased here to renovate an original Ranch and was purchased from the original owner. The values went up 22% in '07 and have seen a continued and very steady increase over the years. Location is GREAT!! Immediate access to 610. The other areas that I've seen some interesting potential MOD renovations is in Meyerland and Westbury (but I'm thinking Westbury needs some more transition) Willow Meadows, South of West Bellfort isn't zoned to Bellaire High School, so it seems that most of the residents on this side have their kids in private schools anyway. Just thought I'd make you aware of that fact. I wish you the best!!
