If there is such a huge demand and/or potential for higher end developments along main their is about a dozen other surface lots that can disappear. I guess next time a developer has a 100 million + to invest DT they better ask "The Niche" or "memebag" for advice first.

Darn you, I was just about to quote this post and provide another link, saying This vid explains it even better. Then I happened to click on your video, only to see that it was the very video I was going to provide.Darn you.
Bow down.

What will happen to this thread once Pavilions opens and is no longer "Going Up?" Will it disappear or move to another section? I don't think I've ever paid attention to a thread long enough to see what happens to it once the project it's representing is complete.
This vid might explain it. . .

Is it possible to respect a team and hate them at the same time? I don't know. I do know I hate Utah more than any other sports team that exists. More than the Cowboys, Spurs, Mavericks, Cardinals, Steelers, Titans, Colts or Jaguars. I loathe them, I so do.
Eh, I guess. I agree we needed Rafer, but his absence is not the reason we lost IMO. Rafer and Tracy cannot make open shots that their teammates missed, they just can't.
You know who else I loathe? Anyone who blames things on Tracy. If someone does that, they don't understand sports or basketball and are merely a bandwagon fan.
Or a talk radio idiot. . .

That would be an impressive feat, considering that building cannot be seen from the freeway.
You are also mischaracterizing the reason for the denial of a video ribbon for Cabo. It was denied because Cabo is in the historic district, not because of any driver distraction arguments. While there are numerous critics of video boards, several have been approved for downtown locations, including the Wortham Theatre and Toyota Center.
Please, not every street was closed, i saw that game while i was driving regardless of what you want to believe.
Besides, those screens that got approved are non-moving, they only show still shots and thats not what were talking about here, is it RedScare
"Theater District lights up the night"
Electronic signs that sparked fight have been set up
By RON NISSIMOV
Copyright 2004 Houston Chronicle
City officials recently put up three electronic billboards in the downtown Theater District, four years after City Council approved the installations.
Two of the signs are outside Wortham Center, and the third is above the front doors of Jones Hall. The signs will not have video or moving text, and will display new images every eight seconds, said Dawn Ullrich, spokeswoman for the city's Convention and Entertainment Facilities Department.
I'm bored with this, move on

Ummm.....the streets were closed. There were no drivers.
every street in downtown was closed? you could see that game from the freeway
-
I hope they do the TVs but downtown's ordinance is too strict when it comes to lighting.
What's stupid is how they're strict about it, yet they make exceptions like when they broadcasted the Astros games on the side of that building 30 feet high.
Defeats their whole "it would distract drivers" argument.
-
Have those TV's facing Main and the DG.
There's da winning idea.
Lets jazz it up a lil.
-
Then there is also the fact you're increasing the downtown population (Permanent and Transient) and most of them want a place to eat and most of them want some place they can walk to.

If you want to see how much business restaurants do on a weeknight, just go down the freeway and take a peek at them as you whizz by. You will see how absolutely crowded they are.
I know, that's why we don't know why Lawry's pulled out.
-
Can it support more restuants? I think so
Other restaurants, hell yea. We were talkin about how there's already a cluster of steakhouses in DT.
-
there's already morton's, vic&anthony's, etc....how many steak places can downtown support?
Don't forget Strip House AND Brennan's in midtown.
Lawry's may have caught on to this.
-
And the typical H-town let down begins.

Lets hope its because Lawrys can't risk it right now and it has nothing to do with projected failure of HP.
Edit: Can someone post the current tenant list from the HP website?
-
Has anyone noticed if many Astros fans are going to DG before the game? Or Rocket games?
Last playoff game @ TC, it looked like it.
-
That's what I said! Boobie Traps!
Did you know Data had his own action figure?
-
It would be cool if they could put up some screens, but I would think it would make more sense if they could have it facing Fannin or San Jacinto. That way you could close off a block or two for major events and could run static advertising.
Exactly what I was thinking.
It would make TONS more sense to have the screens facing George R., the Hilton, Disco green and Toyota Center, THAT'S where all your foot traffic is coming from.
Who the hell are you attracting having it face Main street? That's like having it face a brick wall, literally.
-
Way to go guys
-
Big speakers would be a more efficient way to create a buzz in the area. Speakers or giant hornets.
Or one of these, lol
-
Already live where in Downtown? Article doesn't say that.
