It's also pretty close to the Chelsea Montrose tower too so it would be incredible to watch those 3 rise together. Good news is at least this and Chelsea seem to be pretty certain that they will move forward in the next few months. With all the projects around the city slated to break ground this Spring/Summer it seems like we're going to have a new tower crane going up every week starting in March! Can't wait to see these proposals going vertical!
Have to agree that the Montrose facade looks like those white 1970's office buildings(i.e. Shell Plazas) that are all over the place. Kind of like a mix between 2 Shell Plaza and Houston House which is an interesting combination. It may look a little dated but I still like it some how.
Houston House is the first thing that crossed my mind as well. That is not a good thing.

Culture Map mentions but also shows the McDonald's is being renovated and Fashion Studio (next to El Real) has closed. I also didn't know the Buyer's Club had closed.

How are they going to fit this onto Post Oak? I drive down it each day and some buildings are right on the current sidewalk or pretty close. The current medians are not that wide. I'm sure they have a plan but just curious.

Any updates on this?

I really like those apartments and when I moved back to Houston I tried to get one but there was a wait list.

Forever 21 is already located directly next door, but I don't know if anyone is aware of how successful that location has been and if there are any restrictions associated with that lease.
IMO, they need to go hard after H&M. Landing them in that space would be a major coup for Pavilions and downtown.
I have always thought the Books-a-Million spot would be a perfect H&M. Throw in the speculative Macy's renovation and you would have a great little area. From what I have seen, the Forever 21 stays pretty busy.

Culture Map did an article about a year ago.

I saw that in the Levey Park post and was wondering the same thing. Looks amazing.

I can only see these on my blackberry, but here are some renderings
Thanks for the link!

LV store is now open again. Looks great. Big.

Any thoughts on this location? I ask because I lived in the Houston House for a year while in law school and am glad to see this area getting developed. It was just the Good Year and lots of parking lots. It was really nice when the HP opened up as it gave us options of things to do w/o having to go to Midtown.

Cool.
Two finalists are (1) Houston-based Rida Development Corp. and (2) Dallas-based TRT Holdings/Omni Hotel
Man, I'd LOVE to see all of the proposals.
Kinda funny that the top of Rida's website home page features an Omni Hotel they developed.
Looks like either way, Omni is certainly a leading contender to be the flag on our new convention hotel.
After looking at those hotels on their website, I hope they go with TRT.

Burberry expansion is complete.

Temporary LV is open and looks great. Work has already started on the expansion of the original store.

Thank you Jay, Chris, and Lockmat. I didn't know where to drop this Terranova trailer observation. They've been there for about 2 weeks, so I have to believe it's not a short-term parking issue. That said, they look like @ss and have not been improved in any possible way since being parked there. Wasn't Randall Davis involved in Terranova? Could this be the prelude for a new yet-to-be-released project sales office?
I noticed on Thursday or Friday that they were being connected to utility lines but wanted to verify before I posted. Went back today and they have been connected now.
Terranova was a partnership between RD and Hines.

Good catch. Not sure, but RD did a project with a Terranova Development in Dallas, which was called the Terranova. Maybe it's Houston's version?
I drove by yesterday and it looks like these are the site trailers from the development in Dallas. They look horrible. Old and dirty, glass broken out with plywood covering most the windows. They are sitting right in the middle of the McD's parking lot.

I suspect the Dior space will be used by Louis Vuitton, while the expansion since both Vuitton and Dior are owned by LVMH. Maybe Dior will come back with a rebuild store afterwards.. fingers crossed!!
Just walked by and you are correct. LV will use the old Dior space while the LV store is closed for expansion. The sign says the temp LV location in the old Dior will open Spring 2012 so hopefully soon.

The Dior store has closed for good. Shame, such a prime location.

Or Saks relocating to the old(er) Macy's, and converting Saks into part of the mall, maybe even a Barneys. It will never happen though. My hopes were crushed when Saks began remodeling about 2/3 years ago. Saks Fifth Avenue in Houston is one of the most profitable, I beleive its a flagship and second largest store(sq ft) in the chain. Also I believe the building itself was designed by some super architect. Saks isnt going anywhere.
Louis Vuitton had/has plans to open a bigger store with a second entrance facing Westheimer Rd. Does anyone know anything about it?
Burberry is doing this also. The current Burberry store closed last week and has moved to a temporary location down by Saks during the expansion. I am not sure when LV will do the same.

I went last night also. It really is still a construction zone. We had the premium plus seats. It was nice to be able to recline but there is no way I would spend $24 on it regularly unless it was for something special. The food service was nice and the staff was very helpful. I agree that the bathrooms are really nice. The premium seats are very close to the screen. For $14 I would rather go to Sundance.
