  1. Looking at Har.Com yesterday, I noticed that they are adding Foreclosure in the description right there with rooms and square footage, so why not add a foreclosure search option? Would this bring all those RIDICULOUS "pay for foreclosure listing" companies down on them? That information should be free to home searchs and obviously its not a secret if its getting listed. I say they add it.

Just ask your Realtor. He/she can do it for you. Of course that would only give you the ones actually listed with a Realtor. I wonder how many that would be? Half, 75%, 90%?

  2. I don't quite understand how the TV goofs are to blame ? They were apparently lied to by this guy, and the story sounded plausible, you had a possible witness, you got a guy that holds up his children.........excuse me, grandchildren, up in front of the camera, what kind of person would lie like that ? He figured it had worked before and nobody did an "investigation" on his background. He failed to realize that some people just don't forget faces though, and those people called in a tip that led to the "investigation". The station meant well, and of course they propped up this family to pull at our heartstrings during Christmas, because they need stories that will hopefully gain them MORE stories of how people are so giving during Christmas. This con artist is to blame 100%, I don't blame the TV goofs for trying to get a story, that is their job. The TV goofs made amends in my opinion by showing how they themselves were duped, and confronted the P.O.S. with cameras rolling. Perhaps you are right though, if the TV goofs weren't so overzealous for "filler" sometimes, this scenario perhaps would have never played out? I think it boils down to that the guy lied and the TV goofs didn't have the time to rundown a background on the guy, thus, you get bad reporting and eggnog on your face.

Well, I see, and am glad, that after reading through your reply, you finally came to the conclusion that I was right. lol.

The world is full of cheats and liars, and the TV station made an @$$ of itself.

CyKat, who doesn't think too highly of reporters, most of the time.

  3. LOL! Scumbag got busted by someone calling in that saw him on the news in 2004, PRICELESS ! The age of video has truly come upon us. So, was the girl that "saw" the three men, loading up the back of the truck with his stuff, in on it ? What a P.O.S., but that is his Karma he is messing up. The only way he'll be able to pull this scam off again is if he moves to another city, and then, MAYBE !

In my opinion the TV station shares the blame, maybe not 50/50, but if it weren't for their "investigative reporting", then the crook would never have gotten all that loot.

  4. Well I think Dal is just saying that because the fact that I'm asking something like this is stupid, immature, and shallow. Perhaps his way of showing he has a sense of humor.

Thanks satriela, but I'm just self conscious, and unhappy with the way I look.

Your problem has nothing to do with what's on your head, you look fine. Your problem is with what's inside your head. I think it would be a HUGE mistake to have any "work" done. Get away from the mirror. Nothing good comes from a man staring at himself. Go to church, volunteer at the star of hope, become a big brother. There's alot of other things you can do to "get out of your self". Time spent worring about how you look is time wasted.

  5. Good Lord. Just what we need.

I know this is going to sound like I have a bug up my @$$, but......If you're so dead set against a Fiesta opening up there, why don't you lease the property and open up a store that's a little more to your liking? I happen to think it would be a GREAT alternative to the money gouging stores on the south side. Like that overpriced HEB on Fry and 99. I can't wait till the new Walmart on Bellaire and 99 opens up.

    I LOVE competition.

  6. ^^Uh...he is telling the truth

Damn right they are. I think a lot here believe nothing goes on in their little neighborhood in Seven Meadows or Cinco Ranch, but a lot of things happen that you don't know about. I know a boat load of people who sneak out of their house every weekend and the parents don't know. A Denny's doesn't change anything. Just gives us another late night option (for where to eat).

A comment about Denny's degenerates into a discussion about traffic problems. Then to insulting teens. I dont think "Stoned 16 year olds are f+++ing my neighborhood every weekend."

CyKat ...................I have a teen, and he's okay in my book, not perfect, but okay.

  7. Let me guess, you guys all moved out to Katy for the country air and the peace and quiet.

Yet you want all the mod cons of the big city, then proceed to complain about it when the people that support your suburban eating and shopping lifestyle move in. How dare they have some conveniences.

Stoned 16 year olds are f+++ing up your neighborhood every weekend. Whether you have a Denny's or a Whataburger. These things don't change.

Man, you must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Back away from the window ledge...........................It's going to be okay.

  8. A Realtor was telling me about this last weekend. She and her Broker are convinced it's coming. Sealey is where she said it'll be. Maybe there's more to this than Urban Legend, but then again, maybe not.

    Put the flame throwers away.

  9. Well, time for Cykat to vent............... again.

So I was dropping my son off at elementary school last week. A lady pulls into the handicap parking spot, lets her kid off and goes into the school too. We've all seen it. I recoginize her as a volunteer and I know for a fact that she isn't handicapped. I want to let her know that the spaces are there for people who NEED them and not for people "lucky" enough to get a sign to hang in their rearview mirror. I want to tell her that she's not setting a good example for the kids. I didn't, and I probably wont either. She'll have to figure it out for herself I guess.

And what about those leashes that people put on their kids? Aren't they illegal?

Call me a whiner if you want.

  10. With the right builder, it is almost always cheaper to build than to buy. I go out of my way to give my home owners as much as possible for as little as possible.

Most builders charge retail prices though. I do things a bit differently.

I thought he wanted to know about building HIMSELF vs. hiring someone such as yourself.

  11. I'm not sure if someone has asked this question before, but I am very interested in building my own house. Inner city Houston is out of the question since land is very expensive, but I am talking about land in between the suburbs and Houston.

It can be, if you know what you're doing. I'll rephrase that and answer with an absolute yes, IF you know whay you're doing. The savings can be tremendous. Beware, experience is the best teacher.

  12. ....as opposed toooooooooooooo ???

The writer uses "goes missing" because it has not been proven to have been stolen yet. It is an inanimate object, so it could not have walked away on it's own. The writer could have left out "goes", but it is assumed that it has been stolen, so it "goes" by the help of a second party.

I know the laptop is missing. My question was, "is that proper grammer?"

It appears, according to the Safire article, that it may be "incorrect to correct it", so, unfortunately, it is an expression that's here to stay. No doubt that the reporters who use it consider themselves clever.

Thanks everyone, this is why I like this forum so much and I wont go missing for too long.

    CyKat

  13. It seems to me that news reporters are stuck on that phrase, and for some reason it annoys the heck out of me. Now I'm no english scholar, but is it correct grammer?

    Headline in today's Chron.

"Laptop goes missing with data on administaff workers"

  14. Try looking at Westheimer Lakes, Gated and great ammenities. I'm in Cinco though, my son goes to Seven Lakes. The new LCISD schools are just as good or better. The snobby-stay-at-home-wife-with-the-high-income-husband factor isn't as great in Lamar School district as it is in some of these Katy schools.

But I would definitely stay away from Bush and Hodges Bend in FBISD, that is for folks with kids. You have to consider schools on resale value too, even if you don't have any kids.

  15. for years, people in willis/new waverly have said that disney purchased thousands of acres up there. it's all a myth.

That's easy enough to say. How do you know, or why do you believe it to be a "myth"? Would you mind stating your sources for the "myth" comment?

    Thanks,

  16. I'll gladly pay more for better customer service. Krogers Customer service is ____. Every time I go in there they only have about 2 checkers open and one of those is a 15 items or less. They also rarely have more than 1 person working the deli counter and they are constantly blocking aisles with their back stock. Kroger's lost my business for good. And Walmat, well, its Walmart.

Over priced is over priced, and if you have money to burn, well..........what ever floats your boat. I can't wait for the new Walmart. I guess I'm just more concerned about price. That HEB doesn't sell or do anything for me that the HEB on Mason doesn't. At least we can agree that the prices are very high, some of the highest of any store I've ever been to in the Houston area. And....when I see people overpaying, and just buying without any regard to price, I ticks me off, because that just encourages them to maintain the higher prices. HEB has a good thing going, but it's nothing a little competition won't cure. Come-oooooooon Walmart!

  17. Unless you are a farmer, I see no reason to live outside the loop.

I have a deep and passionate hate for the Katy area in general. Primarily because of all of the ridiculous excuses for "Master Planned Communities". They are worse there than just about anywhere else in Houston.

I have a deep and passionate hate for the INNER LOOP area in general. Primarily because of all of the ridiculous excuses for "FAMILY FRIENDLY AND CRIME FREE COMMUNITIES". They are worse there than just about anywhere else in Houston.

  18. I voted for Walmart. I love Walmart. Best prices and best selection. I say more power to Walmart and to the big-boys. You go and over-pay at the mom and pop stores if you want, me, I'll go to Walmart.

Randalls sux. They used to be the classiest gig in town, since the sellout a few years back, well, lets just say I don't see them lasting too much longer. Lousy service and lousy prices.
