Certainly they weren't going to attempt nonstop service to Africa from Houston on a 738max, right? What's the maximum range for 737 anyway?
-
Omg can we get back on topic? Who gives a rats @ss. There are dangerous areas everywhere. Crime isn’t zero in The Woodlands, Sugar Land or River Oaks. At the rate Houston is gentrifying, it won’t be long before the high rents drive us all out of town.
damn.

Is the elevator shaft topped out or is that still going up, too?

So now that this project is, for all intensive purposes complete, what is the next step regarding the other towers that are supposedly 500-600 feet tall? Are we still expecting them to rise soon? Has anybody even seen the full rendering except for the bottom 10 floors or so? The only reason I'm interested in this project is because of those yet-to-be-built towers. Not this thing..

So they did shrink the main tower then—from 42 stories to 33. I was wondering where the previous 40-something story figure came from.

Do we know anything about the office tower? Is all of it expected to go up at the same time?

This building will be about half way up when Texas Tower and Preston Tower downtown are topping out. It’ll be pretty slick to see that many cranes in the downtown area at one time!
Maybe my math is fuzzy, but I’m only counting 33 floors. Where are you guys seeing the 40 story figure at?

So is it fair to say they're working on the 2nd floor? Looks like they've made it to street level.

ET = Ethiopian? I noticed it was removed from wikipedia a few weeks ago. Sad. IAH has been in a real drought lately getting new flags here. What's the deal?

Those are some big @ss support columns. Wow.

Sooooooo is there reason to believe the 'Chevron Tower' is about to break ground or are we all jumping the gun here? I get very, very excited about these things and I don't wanna be let down lol.
Are the old Enron buildings even full?

I just checked their twitter and Instagram and they’ve made the “big” announcement but no pictures and no details.

I was expecting this topic to pop back to the top but figured it would be news that Chevron pulled out and the tower was dead but this is definitely an interesting development.
Are both Enron towers full?

Wasn’t there supposed to be a meeting or some kind of gathering to reveal new plans for this development? I wanna say it was supposed to be on April 24th or something.

So with the addition of this, we’ll legit have three skylines that would rival any mid size/large city. Now if we could get get them all connected.

So is there reason to believe that his project is moving forward aside from the fact that the businesses have closed? The rendering floating around of this project is super old and pretty low quality. If I know Houston, it's been VE and chopped down from 44 stories to 22 -- if it even gets off the ground.

The Astoria has actually grown on me over the past year or two. I passed by it the other day and thought, ''you know, it's actually not that bad.'' I actually sort of like it now.

Not to mention, I guess that shelves the other two high-rises they were going to build in The Woodlands that would have made it a complex for four 30-story buildings.
LATE BREAKING: Given the industry I'm in, I'm hearing from a co-worker that employees will remain at the two office buildings. "Chevron wants to maintain a presence in The Woodlands." That's a direct quote from an official at the company.

Ethiopian is loaded in the system. Looks to start with 3 times per week in early July but quickly moving to 4 times a week using a 788 with a IAH-LFW-ADD routing. Departures from IAH will be 1-4-6-7.
What does 1-4-6-7 mean?

I meant to post this sooner, but you know how things are.
I was in town and driving by the property in early March. Guys were working inside so my SO and I thought we might try to take a peek and just have a chat. We spoke to the lead construction guy, whose name is eluding me right now. The sales gallery is basically a model unit so prospective buyers can see what condos in the tower will look like. They will have a huge tv that is able to show the view out the windows of any given unit which I thought was pretty neat. The metal design on the outside of the gallery I think is there to stay, it is going to be the actual design/finish for most of what is being built there. The guy said it was his first time working with that material and he was really interested to see how it went because it was going to be incorporated everywhere. It is all pre-fabbed and shipped in from Australia.
He confirmed a start date on the pavillion of April. (Speaking to him in early March, he said they would break ground "next month."). I think he said construction on the pavilion would take about a year and then they would get the retail in, etc. The details here are a bit fuzzy but I'm pretty sure he said they would break ground on the tower (the next building they would start) in about 9 months, so December, and that once they broke ground construction would take about 3 years. After getting the tower underway, they would begin work on the other two buildings, but did not have a definite timeline. Overall, he said timeline to complete would be about 5 years.
That’s a mighty long time for an ambitious project like this. It all starts good but then half way through they blame market conditions for getting a 2 story strip center and a parking garage. The pavilions downtown is a prime example. Was supposed to be three large high rises but ultimately ended up with a half baked project that nobody knows or cares about.
Regent Square is another example except that one never left the drawing board.

Looks like a false alarm. Report of a fire on the 19th floor of the new Hanover Post Oak.

For what ever its worth. Read an interview done by the Houston Chronicle from February 2014 with Mr. P.V Banavalkar of Vertika Structural . He stated that the JP Morgan tower ( 71 stories, 1002 feet) has a foundation base of 4 basements whereas the BP Group tower ( 46 stories, 632 feet) has a foundation base of 2 basements. I suppose this refers to how deep the foundation hole was. Anyone know what it is for the Hines Texas Tower?
Chase Tower is 75 stories 😉

Damn. This started after Texas Tower and just might come out of the ground first. If it’s a race to the top, my bet is in this one.

New York and LA are the only other cities that have three or more commercial airports and their populations are double and triple what Houston’s is. Seems like a waste of resources.
Also if I remember correctly, each city only gets a set amount of TSA agents, right? Isn’t that why IAH was all up in arms about Hobby becoming international?

Texas Tower: Office Skyscraper At 845 Texas Ave.
in Downtown

I think I mentioned in the “Allen” thread that it’s really going to be something to see Texas Tower, Preston and the Allen all rising together with all those cranes at the same time. I suspect that all three buildings will be of substantial height, with exposed columns 30+ floors up at the same time. Oh the crane porn that is to come...
