sign got updated yesterday to say the closure is from 6/10 to 6/11.
Looks like they are following Dolce's scheduling model!

sign on Taft just north of the site says Taft will be closed from W Gray to O'Neill from 6/2 to 6/4 i believe.

This is the west end of Lamar St downtown. the dedicated street bike lane used to end at Bagby and there was a small section where it doesn't connect to the larger path that takes you to the bayou, they closed that gap.

They should rename them the Arlington Rangers. Wouldn't be unprecedented (see Anaheim).
Also a note from earlier - being at the Ballpark for a day game in July was the hottest I've ever felt in my life. It was a stagnant 105+, not sure what they were thinking scheduling an afternoon game that time of the year.

Here is another start-up that recently made headlines, Axiom Space is to planning to build the world's first commercial space station.
Mike Suffredini, former Program Manager of the ISS, left NASA to be the President of Axiom Space. He has a lot of detailed knowledge and knows ISS inside and out - should be interesting.

for property tax keep in mind that there are additional exemptions after you turn 65 and certain parts of the property tax freeze.

They moved the fence in and the sidewalk is accessible to the public. Used it a few times last weekend, didn't see any progress on the site worth taking pics of...

I'm building a new home starting this summer, and was interested in solar power options. My builder doesn't have much experience but will support integration with whatever contractor I find. So far I have just talked to Texas Solar Outfitters. I was wondering if any one here had experience with them or another provider for residential solar.

Is this the construction that has closed Pierce/St Joseph northbound from 45 going to downtown forcing you to get off at Scott and u-turn back to the feeder? That closure seems north of what is described in the article and also is not on the main lanes. Trying to figure out what they are doing and the timeline. Its really bad in the afternoons, I can't imagine what that is causing in the morning for people headed downtown.

They put down all the framework and rebar and actually laid some sidewalk today along Gray. Progress, but the facade of the western buildings hasn't been touched so I assume the fencing will remain up for some time and the new sidewalk won't be accessible.

This comment didnt age well.
haha it did not. i had that app for about a week and messed around with it while walking my dog and that was it. though doing a quick news search its still out there making some noise.
anyways, they have a big hole dug now. No apartment around here has made their schedule without big delays or big fires, we'll see how this goes. I just realized I will have to cross W Gray twice with no signal to get decent sidewalks in my walk to midtown after they rip it up in front of the future Alta...

Being in walking proximity of all that retail
except no one walks around there! I'm telling you people drive from one store to another within the same parking lot.

Kroger is the only place I frequent in that area, and I normally ride my bike down Clay to Woodhead to get there. Too many parking lot entrances and cars darting all over the place. I actually had to go to JosABank and Kroger this last weekend and walked in between. Just a few stores and a parking lot apart. I almost got run over several times and watched people valet for Sunday brunch when they could have parked 50' away. Between the size of the parking lots, number of entrances, fast left turners coming off Gray, and the unfortunate nature of all the people around, not many people walk in that center. I think it will take more then an elevated crosswalk to change the way people move around the whole center.

new equipment and materials on the lot this week, but I assume it was staging for Dolce Living.

Looks like they have scaled back, which I would be ok with other than the price point. But I'm still planning on going, last year I will be able to walk there before we move out of the area. I'll enjoy The Shins, Strumbellas, St Paul (saw them at Continental, really good), The Struts, Portugal The Man. Tove Lo and Charlie XCX will be good later in the night.
They have often announced more bands later, though that was when they were doing the blind presale and made multiple announcements and price hikes.

Free Press Summer Fest tickets on sale and lineup announced. Moving back to Eleanor Tinsley (for now).
Tickets are $148 plus fees for GA, no blind pre-sale this year.

People were upset but the develop jepts going.
Are you suggesting foul play? Last article I can find (from fall 2015) still says HFD was investigating. This is the one with a welder on the roof and high winds right?
Never heard the outcome, but early reports indicated it was an accident. There were people complaining about building near the cemetery but there will always be some group complaining about something with a development this big.
It would be interesting to see what came of the HFD report and subsequent dealing with insurance.

The old Bibas location on 607 W Gray looks like it is going to see another change. I have lived close by and started going to the original Bibas One's a Meal back in the early 2000s.
In late 2008, many people assumed "Bibas" moved to Westheimer next to Katz's. Biba is the person who owns the location at 607, and the manager running the restaurant who was an old friend of Bibas had some sort of falling out/issue and opened "One's a Meal" on Westheimer. My source is the son of "One's a Meal" who I randomly met in Bruges, we started talking because I was wearing a Dynamo jersey. Lots of stories about Bibas and shady business. So yes I have one source and its one-sided but he didn't seem to have any reason to lie. Bibas reopened the 607 location but it did not do well (attempted to copy the old One's a Meal menu and it wasn't good). In 2013, Eleven XI moved in and was doing very well. We frequented it and became friends with one of the servers. When we found out is suddenly closed, we reached out and the server said they were doing well and suddenly the locks were changed. Again, one-sided source but it did close with no warning. In early 2016, Skinny Rita's opened their second location there. We didn't go often and I'm not sure how well they were doing. Yesterday we saw they were closed and saw the sign pictured below. No source this time, but I find it hard to believe they didn't pay rent.

They put up a "Montrose" sign on W Gray just west of Taft.

It was (is?) a mobile game app. It was a world wide phenomenon, well at least for a month! We had just had our second child and my wife's cousins (late teens and early 20's) who were in town were really in to it. Would go walk our dog just to catch pokemon. I won't lie, i downloaded it and played for a few weeks. I live less than a block for this lot, and there was a pokemon places there you could catch.
