  1. It's real brick... with white stucco-like accents.

I didn't realize both upper levels would be 24 hour fitness until today's Chronicle article... how are they going to put a pool on an upper level? Personally, I was hoping for more retail... hopefully they get some good tennants for the first floor.

care to share this chronicle article? thanks

  2. I work for one of the tenants in the HCC building across the street. As far as I can tell, the CVS was built for the residents living east and north along Elgin. A sandwich shop in there would be very welcome as the only thing in the HCC building is cafe Neo, staffed by HCC culinary arts students. Cali is just across the street to the west but something like a Subway would do a bang-up business, at least for the lunchtime crowd.

There is a Subway at Holman but walking there can be scary at times.

how is the food at Neo Cafe? do you know the menu? hours of operation? thanks

  3. I mentioned that would be a cool a long time ago, and although doubt it would happen, I think it would be awesome. It would give all of us Rice/UT/Baylor/UH/etc students a closer place to get our Apple fix than the Galleria! :) I would definitely go to an Apple store downtown over the Galleria any day.

i agree. i bet a large percentage of midtown residents use apple computers compared to the rest of the Dell using houston residents.

  4. Not to the thousands that live in the apartment complexes on Bellaire, Ranchester, and Town Park. I see Asians walking and biking all the time all along Bellaire.

honestly, chinatowns are great in cities. it shows the diversity of the population and just a look into another's culture. however, i prefer going to a chinatown as oppose to a chinatown coming to me. my point is: i wouldn't utilize a chinatown shopping center on an everyday basis but i would use a shopping center with a wine bar, multiple restaurants and just random stuff. i purchased property here because i knew midtown is gonna be the next big thing, not little saigon.

i'm surprised people are disappointed about this project because it involves tearing down some outdated shopping center. you obviously have bad taste in neighborhoods and should consider moving to the east side of houston. midtown isn't the place for you.

  5. is it possible crosspoint properties staged this "Mix at Midtown" project so it makes the area look better. Therefore tentents are more willing to sign a lease at their current project (24hour fitness building). Seems like a good stradegy. Just seems kinda fishy since there are no renderings.

  6. What does this have to do with Midtown? Isn't it going to be in the East End?

are you kidding me? midtown wouldn't be ____ if it wasn't for the fact that it is surrounded by downtown, river oaks and montrose. the third ward border is midtown's weak point. so any development (i.e. townhomes, retail or hotels) is good by all means.
