What's with man standing in front of the old buildings wearing a USA cap and/or waving an American Flag and pointing to the vacated offices?? He often takes poses of famous American Patriotic statues. He's there almost every day, and it does make you smile after few times because he seems like such a harmless loonie. Is he a hired guy for PR, is a tenant still in there we can't see or is he just a nut? Its not like you can look too long to figure out what he's pointing at because you will run into the back of someone if you did.
Anyone else seen him? I see him almost everyday between 2 and 3pm.
yeah, i work next door and noticed him today.... pretty funny. never noticed him before, though.

This site has been tapped for a luxury high rise for at least 3 years and was not the site where the retirement community was going to go. The site is currently a 2-story wooden office park type development on San Felipe west of Voss and just east of the Bayou. There used to be a Kinkos on the east edge of the property.
Also - go to www.mapquest.com and type in 7703 San Felipe St, Houston, TX 77063 - you'll see where San Felipe and Woodway intersect.
yeah, you're right. guess i didn't look too closely at the map i'm right next door to those old wooden office buildings, so either way i'll have a good view. wonder what's in store for the property on voss where the retirement community was slated to go?

yeah, that's the site of the where the retirement community highrise was supposed to go.
pretty cool project... i work right across the street from there.

You get a real feel for Uptown's area in that photo, including just how much room there is for redevelopment. It would be cool if one of you really crafty graphics fiends could come up with a composite sketch of how the Uptown skyline would look with all the proposed projects (Turnberry, Cosmopolitan, Titan, River Oaks, High Street, etc, etc) built out.
dont forget blvd.
i cannot wait to see the transformation of our city in 3-5 years.

very nice looking building... it will be a nice addition to uptown.

that's pretty damn impressive.

The Galleria estimates that over 20% of its sales are to Mexican citizens. And when they come to shop, it's the good stuff.
this is the truth.... the mexican nationals especially; they have a lot of expendable income that they are more than happy to part with here in houston, especially on nice clothing.

whole foods and a whole earth across the street from each other? hippies and yuppies rejoice!
and within walking distance from my house

looking at those photos.... man, this is a pretty small park.
but i guess we we'll take what we can get.

Testing the soil would be my guess. I'm not an architect or engineer, but surely the contents of the soil must be determined before more definite plans can be drawn.
Do we have any engineers in the house?
can only speak from residential experience, but a soil test would most likely be the reason for any drilling right now.

What is your point? I** don't like soccer. I didn't say everybody in The Woodlands didn't. My friends don't like soccer. They don't live in The Woodlands. Again...what part of my opinion did you not understand?? You guys are kidding yourself if you think that soccer is popular or will ever be popular in America. Period...the end. On a side note, the girl is hot!
wow.
just to let you know, you've come off sounding like an idiot in several posts in this thread.

i am very pleased with the design... looks beautiful.

good lord that building is hideous... i live in tanglewood and see it all the damn time, and everytime i ask myself "how did that monstrosity get approved?" seriously, who was the braintrust that saw that design and said "yep! that's the one! let's get the ball rolling on this sucker!" i mean, they sure as hell cant be native houstonians... right? why would you want to deface your own city landscape like that?
it's baffling, really.

I'm not trying to start up any argument, but their color shouldn't matter, it's their character.
while race should never be an issue, you could probably infer that the types of bars/clubs that strongly cater more towards minorities are exactly the type of establishments that DT is currently trying to eradicate.
helluva a first post.... go me.
or second post.

cool thread... always interested to hear about the good old days in houston music history. keep the stories coming.
i've got a townes van zandt album called "live at the old quarter - houston, tx." great stuff.

yeah, dont forget West Ave. this entire area is on the cusp of a pretty major reformation. but i'm with you in regards to High Street (right?)... is that an entirely differnet project? what are the projected tennants, components, etc.? and this seems like an awful lot of retail in the uptown/river oaks area.... west ave, high street, galleria, blvd place, highland village, even regents square
