  1. I guess I'm the only oddball who likes air conditioning. I do like the outdoors concept, but not here in houston especially during summer, and on humid, rainy, & too-cold days (about 300 out of 365 days). If anything the outdoors concept is just like any other strip center except bigger with some water fountains here and there. Yes, a lot of malls tend to die out, but to me its all about word-by-mouth. If we all talk down about a particular mall of course eventually no one will go.

  2. I had the same question....

There is a sign near the old Circuit City building that says "new Willowbrook shopping center coming soon". Are they going to tear down that entire center with the Laff Spot, Shannons Street Waves, and Baker Street Pub?
  3. Looks like Willowbrook is going through some major changes. A lot of the stores are remodeling. I noticed that they even took out some of the seating areas with the palm trees. I wonder what they are up to. Pretty cool... Still nothing on the old Lord & Taylor site. They just bulldozed the whole thing and left it there.

  4. La centerra is pretty nice, but it's a lot smaller than it looks in the video. Hopefully phase 2 will be bigger and better. Will this interfere with the simon mall development though (THE GRAND)?

No Williams Sonoma as of the day we filmed the video. But some nice retailers none the less. This was a very well designed project. We created a video tour of the center and are using this to promote the Katy area.

    Thanks. Double Clicked by accident

  5. I agree too. Rice village looks really worn out. This new look will definitely bring more attention to the area.

I'm usually drawn to fabulous fifties architecture, the crazier the better, but in this case I do think the newer building style looks better. I wouldn't be saying that if RV had been built in grand style, state-of-the-art, googie fashion of the 50's (or whenever it was built). RV doesn't seem to be holding up that well today from the pictures I've seen, beauty-wise.

  6. Glad to hear Willowbrook is upgrading... About time!!! People tend to refer to Willowbrook as the "Next Greenspoint". I don't believe it's going to happen. The area is way too developed with nice things. I think Willowbrook deserves the high end retailers. It would take a lot (too much) for the mall to have an overturn.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Willowbrook is one of the top-performing malls in the Houston area, having enjoyed a virtual mall-opoly over a huge swath of NW Harris County (a market of around 1 million residents). They are about to face some competition and appear to be upgrading their offerings.

  7. Noticed some new tenants at the mall today like Luck Brand, and Pumpkin Patch? There's also a medspa in there now...

Agreed, but im sure you know it isnt just redevelopment, its expansion. The traffic here is already a freakin nightmare and Xmas time, its even worst. I literally dread leaving my home and getting on FM 1960 and surrounding main streets. Absolutely insane!

  8. I don't know when Midway is going to start on the City Centre project, but I know that Interfin has already started building Vintage Park Houston. The company built uptown park and are now working on another project in northwest houston. I heard there will be another "Central Market" there and other great high-end retailers. I drove by the other day and noticed that most of the structures are up already. It's a really nice area that most people tend to not noticed as much like the Willowbrook Mall area.... It's going to be a great surprise for HOUSTON!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Does anyone know when Midway is scheduled to start on CityCentre (where T&C mall used to be)? It's been a grassy eyesore for months now. There are signs all around on the cyclone fencing about their financing being approved by Amegy Bank. They were put there in the last month or so.

    Anyone have a clue?
