  1. Nevermind. A press release was posted on the Hermann Park website today that says, "The entire Lake Plaza is a LEED certified project scheduled for completion in March 2009". I assume this includes the bridge.

The entire Hermann Park project is scheduled from completion in 2014.

I knew there were some things going on over there, but I didn't know about all of this.

  2. Oh, I remember Gatorade gum! Seemed it was only around briefly. I used to get it from the corner store in my grandma's neighborhood. They also had Dr. Pepper gum. They were both good.

I remember Best. I also remember the Sports Town and Pharmor across the freeway. I loved Sports Town! They sold this Gatorade gum there that I would beg my mom to buy. I've never seen Gatorade gum anywhere else.

Where was the water feature with chimes? I'm trying to remember, but can't.

They had several scattered throughout the mall.

  3. I remember the Best store across the street. I got a Scooby Doo board game from there that I loved playing with it. It was like a 3 dimensional board game. That was one of my favorite toys.

They used to have the neatest water features with the chimes at Greenspoint.

    Haven't been there in years.

  4. There's already a website up, but all it says right now is "coming soon".

They have a logo and everything, though.

I want to see this happen, but for some reason I can't. I expect 20 years from how we'll still be talking about what to do with the dome, if it's not a parking not by then. I hate being pessimistic.

    It has a MySpace, too:

  5. It was only one woman's proposal. The story was on channel 11 a couple of weeks ago and it's discussed in the Astrodome thread here. The dome's future is still up in the air.

I like the studio idea. Usually things I would like to see don't happen. I'm sure ultimately it'll be a gool 'ol, grand ol' Texas theme hotel. Wee haa! Let's watch some football.

  6. So do I. I'd rather have it as a large soundstage as well.

I want something interesting done with it regardless, but the studio idea sounds better than the hotel. They'd probably give the hotel a hokey Texas theme. Yuck.

  7. Now I'm getting excited about Artest. Usually when one of our teams makes a big acquisition, it's pretty divided and I don't know enough to know any better. Everyone's enthusiastic about this one. They better stay healthy.

  8. I hear his name a lot so I figure he's alright. Didn't know which team he played for, though.

    Edited:

I guess I know why his name sounded familiar. Folks on the chron.com say this fellow is a thug.

  9. Not much to it. I agree it's kind of lame. My favorite part is dining out on the terrace, but now One Park Place is blocking the view, which would have been great now that Discovery Green is here. Not that I'm not glad about One Park Place.

They could use better stores. The food court is fine.

For us Houstonian's, driving to the original one in New Braunfel's was the most fun part! We would reserve a room in those little cottages or nearby motel and just enjoy the weekend.

My family always stayed at Landa/Schlitterbahn resort with several other families/friends. The yellow cabins where the tube chutes from the waterpark run in front of and dump into the river. Us (or is it "we"?) kids loved roaming around at night after the park closed. Of course we couldn't get into the main park, but we still played in some of the empty rides.

My fav section was the adult section where all the singles/couples could have drinks ie; Pina Colada's in that outside pool/bar. (They better have added plenty of chlorine in cases someone couldnt hold it).

You mean the big hot tub outside of Chuck E. Cheese? That felt dirty to me. Something about it. I think maybe because it had the umbrella tables in the water and there were always puddles of cool water on the table tops. Reminded me of cold saliva or something. Once there were some soggy playing cards floating around. Gave me the creeps.

Down the street from the resort there was always a place selling funnel cakes. Sometimes we'd go there in the evening after the crowds in the area had died down.

Yep, some of my favorite childhood memories.
