The only practical and affordable usage would be to demo the sidewalls and leave just enough structure to support the dome.
Will make a huge shaded pavilion for hosting outdoor events, and require no HVAC for minimal conversion costs.
And the “dome” still exists for historical preservation.

Grand Texas theme park work underway:

Update: According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office one of the tenants of the 3 Waterway Building furloughed several employees this morning . Those employees were sent home.
An employee reported a physical threat made by one of those employees. To be safe the building management decided to evacuate the building.

Employees of the office building at 3 Waterway Square in The Woodlands were evacuated this just after 10 a.m. this morning due to a threat, according to building management. It has still not been determined what that threat was but the tenants and employees were told not to return until Monday.

I guess if Bucee's can be a cool brand, the piney woods theme- park donkey is not such a stretch.
That is so sad & true its not funny.

While doing some research on Astroworld I found this Wikipedia listing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Flags_AstroWorld of where some of the rides were moved to:
The Looping Starship has been relocated to Mammoth Lake in Clute, Texas along with pieces of the Mayan Mindbender.”Have never heard of an amusement park in Clute, and found no remains by looking on Google maps. Is the Wikipedia article correct?

You mean they actually expected me to expend my energy looking? That’s why the internet was invented. (Thanks!)

Why was it deleted?

Technically the website is “not up” and has been that way for years. If you go to the home page http://www.grandtexas.net/ you are not allowed access to the site. They are not smart enough to know that search engines easily jump the barrier.
Look at the location: “As part of the development process, Grand Texas has determined three different desired sites. Two are in Montgomery County, while the other is in Fort Bend County. We can assure you, this information will be provided as soon as readily available.”

Grand Texas Theme park continues plans to move into East Montgomery County

Is the theme park dead? I don’t think so.
However I wouldn’t start making plans to attend just yet. Notice this thread started in November of 2006.

From Your Houston News. More signs of motion, but not necessarily progress.
"The design and artistic license for the park is now in control of Contour Entertainment who recently drafted a letter of intent with the East Montgomery County Improvement District in order to forge ahead with their plans for development."

It appears you can eliminate the Tomball location for the theme park. Following is an article in the Community Impact newspaper for a new business park.
The parks original planned location was listed as 11598 Holderrieth Road. The planned business park is shown in the same location.

We may need to move this thread to The “Woodlands and Northern Pines”

Grand Texas remade the video removing the location from the audio.
-
Video posted on YouTube with new renderings of the park. Audio reports it just "North" of the woodlands?

Can someone nail this down a little closer for me, so I can update the map?
Go a mile to the east and Lone Star College / University Center is clearly marked.

I wouldn't completely rule out an HQ move, though it is unlikely. A new shiny corporate campus, with an entire master-planned community (and VERY nice one at that) built right behind it? That may entice a move from Irving, where there are hardly any Exxon employees compared to Houston.
Yes but the Irving employees are mostly top management, and the rank & file here would be very uncomfortable with them looking over their shoulders. Lots of political implications.
-
ExxonMobil should make a formal announcement early next year on their plans for the campus. At this time they have not finalized exactly what branches will close and move to the Spring location. Likely they will not move the present Dallas and Houston offices

By the way...for at least couple of years there has been a developed section of TW called Spindle Tree and the school district is indeed Magnolia.
It is located east of FM2978 near Hardin Store road.

This has not got off the ground, right?
A few months ago I took a ride down Matthews Lane and was curious about the extensive gate and brick fencing on the north side. Click for a Google Street View
I talked to a local resident about the property and he reported it was previously owned by an eccentric millionaire who passed before he could build his mansion. The property was then purchased by The Woodlands and they are currently leasing it as pasture land until they have a need to develop it.

Sorry, deleted my meaningless posting

when will RF get extended??
The official report I have heard is Research Forest will be completed when 1488 goes four lanes. TW has a concern that RF will be a bypass for the 1488 traffic.
Already the Stonebridge Church is having problems with people (like me ) knowing the gate code and using their access drive as a shortcut between RF and 1488.

I am attempting to restart this thread because the old one was drifting off topic. Please start other threads to discuss trees and dentists.
Have any other stores committed to this development?
Will the anchor store be a Target or Super Target?
