  1. I like the fact they've signed some original sounding tenants and names that I've not heard of in Houston. Of course Mission Burrito is a familiar name and I heartily welcome its arrival.

Hopefully Mission Burrito will stay. I've seen some turnover on the site plan over the last several months for those colored Green for Lease Pending...

  2. What do you mean? Not one of the four corners at that intersection has a Walgreens or CVS yet. Even then, the Spring Cypress/Louetta intersection is far enough away for another Walgreens as well. The nearest one is like three miles away! :)

Actually the closest one (and there are two - Walgreens & CVS) is just a mere mile and a half down the road at Spring Cypress and Barker Cypress.

I definitely wouldn't want another drug store, bank or Asian Salon in front of Rock Creek if I lived there...

  3. Hopefully they are reading this board and this is their response to all the criticism... That's kind of what it sounded like.

I don't know if they are already trying this, but what I think they need to do is recruit a few true high end "destination" places and just give them an absolute steal of a deal too good to pass up (approach a Nordstrom's, Houston's Restaurant, Cheesecake Factory, Barnes & Noble, etc... )- something that people really would get excited about (none of the current tenant line up apply) .

It's not like they don't have the space available and it should help bring in more interested co-tenants as a result. It would also help generate more positive community buzz (which is all just major disappointment right now)... And even giving away a steal of a deal to a couple of really attractive tenants would be better than what they are getting for all that empty storefront now...

Bottom line is that I personally wouldn't want to try and sell storefront at a premium price while using "close proximity to Cheeburger Cheeburger" as my main selling point. Good luck with all that.

  4. Good info. That tells me what I was wonderin. Those prices are closer to what they probably should have been. They should be able to sell those. The Carrerra is nearly 100k less than their list!

True - but $2400/yr on HOA fees is steep compared to what you'd pay on a house in the area (& the low monthly taxes column is misleading - you'd be paying more in HOA fees + Property taxes than in almost any comparable single family home in the area...)

  5. I also tried this Russo's Pizzeria. I was not impressed. Same crappy pizza as in their other locations. There was hardly any ingredients on the pizza. Bad service also. I understand that they just opened so I went again to give them a second chance. Again, same overpriced crappy food with bad service. Rather go spend my money on Chili's or Texas Roadhouse. At least Chuy's is coming soon.

    Chuy's is already open.

  6. Its true, we drove down there. way closer to our home, instead of driving to Dallas, which we have been known to do (8 hour round trip drive) JUST FOR THOSE SKINNY FRIES AND A POT OF BEANS at Steak and Shake. YUM!! I got to go eat!! Bye!!

8 hours of driving for fast food? I went there once when I lived in Dallas and honestly, I don't know what all the fuss is about.

Maybe I'll give it one more shot based on all the feedback here - but I really don't remember it being anything special...

  7. Have you seen the Vintage di Vita townhomes down Chasewood Park Drive? More affordable than the Kickerillo homes and really nice looking! I went over the weekend and they were super-busy. There are also some homes by Portrait by the railroad tracks. Not as nice but good floor plans on the townhomes and much lower price-point.

They definitely do look nice, but I don't know if $130 sq foot for a townhome when you can get large single family homes for well under $100/sf in the area makes sense for too many people...

However, maybe the opportunity to buy at such a prime location (only steps from Cheeburger Cheeburger) makes it worth the extra $... :o

  8. as funny as it sounds...cajun is associated with whites in s. louisiana...blacks are creole....I'll get the scoop and report back on the place

Speaking of Cajun restaurants - according to the Spring 2008 Newquest newsletter - there will be a place called "The Cajun Family Restaurant" going into Cypress Village Station (the Metro Parking Garage on 290 and Skinner), along with a Schlotzkeys and a few other places...

  9. I checked it out too and was impressed. For all I know I was sitting right next to the legendary cnote.

Cheap bastard tip of the day - the kids chicken fingers were pretty darn good and came with 5 and were only $3.99.

Order these to go "for your kids" and eat them yourself!
