Walked around City Centre this weekend. Looking really nice. The grass is planted and the fountains are flowing in front of the hotel. I think when this is finished, it is going to be a great addition to the city.

Awesome home.

I remember having a few birthday parties at PP. I still have a ton of pictures with friends eating cake under the big patio structure. I can't remember the orginal location, but I believe they moved to 59/Betlway 8. Not sure when that location closed.

I agree with the above post. It would be nice if they had some of the pre-prepared kits like they have in Central Market. Maybe not a full selection, just something small to start off and see how well they sell.

This was in the Houston Press today.

If you are going to let fear run your life, you might as well stay home.

Have you ever been a victim of a smash with nothing in the vehicle to grab?
Actually, I have.
In college my car was stollen from the apartment complex I lived in at the time. I did not blame myself or the apartment management. The fact is, everyone likes to find someone to blame. It is easier than admitting you are at fault.

roughly how much does a developer spend to have the architect/cad/designer create renderings? with so many projects failing lately, just kind of curious what type of $ is out the window on designs/rendering
yea, we have like 3 or 4 now!!! LA, NY, eat your hearts out!
But the view from this location is worth millions. Refineries to the east and to the south, well, nothing really.

Our country is in sad shape when others expect to be provided for and kept secure at all times. I am sure she is going to sue for "mental pain and suffering" soon. Please, makes me sick.
If you leave your laptop and a purse in plain sight, you are just asking for someone to take from you. I tell people to keep purses and laptops aways from windows in ones home. You never know who might be lurking around at night, peering into your home.

This is great news. Now Houston is going to have another W hotel. I am just about ready to burst with excitement.

Yeah, there's already a sign up announcing Spec's in that location. So, what about the Toys R Us? Anybody know that location's fate?
I was told about Toys R Us a few months ago, I guess I was wrong.
Hate they are moving further away from me. Not that I am a lush.
-
Hopefully in time it will be built, however I can't see it moving forward for at least another year or so.
-
Just heard that Toys R Us is going to be replaced with Specs. Will be very similiar to the downtown location. The current Specs will be razed once they have moved.
-
I grew up going to that Toys R' Us, it need a makeover or a new location. The shopping center in front of the Toys R' Us has been empty for a while now. I wonder if they will just tear it down and the toy store and put something else there.
I think they are going to bring that shopping center down. There has been some activity at the Toys R' Us in the past few days. I am fairly certain that it has been closed since Ike.
Also, from what I have heard, the owner of the hotel next door is looking to sell. He wants some sort of mixed use development for the site.

Does anyone actually think this thing is going to get off the ground in the next 18 months with the economy the way it is?
50/50
There was a good article in the Wall Street Journal today talking about the credit crunch. Projects that were to have been started have either been delayed or cancelled altogether.

Yep. My hockey team needs a new sports/hangout bar to frequent after our league games. Mr. C's is done as of last weekend. Farewell, cheap drinks and awesome bar staff!
I heard it was Metro National (they're the owners of memorial city, right?) who was doing the demo/rebuild of that little shopping center that currently houses the aforementioned Mr. C's, La Fiesta, and Kobe.
Metro National owns pretty much everything along I-10 south from Bunker Hill to just past Gessner I believe. I have heard (rumors) they plan on a shopping center and townhomes.
-
Heard rumors of Specs making it into a warehouse type store. If true, sure they would be closing down on Bunker/I-10.
That is the rumor. Supposed to be like the one in midtowne. Not sure on size, etc.

You would think Ritz Carlton would update their site to reflect the Houston location.

Drove by this weekend and noticed that there is a temporary building in the parking lot of the post office. Looks like work is going to begin soon.

lol
love it.

I feel like I need to shower even when I drive by it.

This use of eminent domain so wrong it makes me sick.
Why doesn't the COH tell the Pavillions to budget space WITH the compound, instead of taking someone's house/private property. Oh, yeah I forgot about greasing the palms..........
I totally agree with you on this. Attached is a nice little piece by CBS.

I am loving the Rockets right now. I was a little weary with Yao out, but the Rockets are holding it together and looking better than ever. Bring on New Orleans and win 18!

Driving by the area, I took my usual view of the Hospital under construction when I looked at the old Hotel (Renaissance hotel?) and saw that it at a "Four Points" logo on it now.
Is this thing already open and when did THAT happen? I always thought that building might be demo'ed or another use of it would be done.
The logo for Four Points has been up for a few weeks. At one point in time, I remember reading about a possible demo. However, that changed last year. After Katrina, I know it was at capacity for an oil comany (I think oil).
