  1. Are the Jackson Hill ones really selling or do they just have "sold" signs in front? Or is the developer merely saying that they are selling? I don't really believe that all of the units that have "sold" signs on them are really sold...Its like the guy who owns a business, and it is barely successful, but if he opens up another business, it gives the image of success, and suddenly, he starts making money. So the units may not really be sold, but the developer says they are just so he can make the development look attractive to other buyers....

I had a "reserve" on a unit at The Vistas - which meant I put a deposit down and then was waiting until construction was finished - the builder listed the unit as sold.....since construction took a year longer than they told me when I "bought" my unit - I cancelled....so when they say the units are sold while they are being built - it means someone has put down a deposit - I dont know how many actually go to contract though...

  2. Has anyone heard anything about a new restaurant going up at the corner of White Oak & Oxford--across the street from Onion Creek? There's a sign up that says Soul Food and Fried Chicken restaurant coming.

Nice to have something different to choose from, but that seems like an odd location for this type of food.

I just noticed the sign on the building the other day - there were a couple guys working outside the building painting and such - they have actually been working on the building for several months...

It does seem like a strange place for a Soul Food restaurant - but as you said, it's good to have another food choice.....lets keep our fingers crossed

  3. I stopped by the "In Town Homes" trailer on Washington (near Sawyer) last weekend to talk to the realtors and find out what houses they are marketing in the area. They have bought almost all the land from Washington northward/Sawyer eastward (not all of it of course - but alot of it) - they will be tearing down the old warehouses and will be building homes on them over the next couple of years....if you want to buy a house with good potential for appreciation - this would be the time.....they are in the high 100's and low 200s right now....

  4. My only objection for the condo conversion is that the units aren't a particularly good investment unless you are subletting the unit out and making money on the rents. Outside of that, I don't see much appreciation of the unit values. It may turn out like the Renaisance at Welch and Shepherd. They really seem that the units can't get sold.

The last time I drove by the Renaisance, the sign said 1 unit left !!

  5. Sorry for re-opening such an old thread - I can't find a site for this apartment via google, was it ever finished? I like the view...(although obviously wouldn't buy purely because of the view)

They are currently under construction - move-in is supposed to be this summer although that seems a bit optimistic to me - they are still working on the parking garage structure.
