  1. I do wish they could've landed better tennants and hope they do in the future. Some of you all are talking like its over. We still have alot of retail space left in the pavilions, not to mention the remaining retail space on Main Street to fill up. It just beats the hell out of those ugly surface lots that were there before. I'm reserving my judgement for this place until the Spring when everytihng is finished. The only thing i'm disapopointed in right now is the lighting on H/P. The developers were talking like it was supposed to be so stunning and extravagent. They were saying that they were going to bring video screens and flashing lights. Now when I call the HP number on the website, the employees basically are unaware of those plans which now don't sound very promising in the future. It currently looks boring at night.
  2. Why does everyone keep comparing this with bayou place. This thing is way larger than Bayou place and more tennants occupy, plus its location to the rail line.
  3. I guess some people on here just love bitching about things. I'm thinking they would have been happier with the 3 boring parking lots that were there before.
  4. You present some interesting observations. Some make sense, but overall I disagree. One advantage HP has over Victory Park is it is in the middle of downtown , right off the rail line, and is close in proximity to the GRB, Discovery Green, and Hilton hotel. Also the tennant list is more for everyday people rather than being aimed primarily at the wealthy. Remember, as 19154 pointed out in earlier in this thread, the main goal of H/P was to bring in more retail which is something that has been severely lacking for a long time. The few hundred tennants that were originally included in the plan make about as much difference as the nearby hotel occupants. You can't say this is like Park Shops. This development is at street level, it's outdoors, and more noticeable. Alot of my friends who came here to attend college at TSU have said that for the longest time, they were unaware that there was a mall inside the Houston Center. That's because of the lousy operating hours which only cater to the lunchtime crowd downtown. Its funny how you've already drawn your verdict and you haven't even been down there yet. True, there's more i'd like to see there but I can say that i've already seen more patrons roaming around that area than i ever did before when that place was just parking lots. Furthermore, all the tennants haven't even shown up yet. I think downtown Houston is on its way to following behind the footsteps of downtown Denver. Anybody who's visited Denver within the last 2 years will know that's a good model for what downtown Houston is shaping up to become. Just look at how Denver Pavilions by the same developers helped its downtown.
  5. I actually, i took the liberty of calling the number myself on the website. They told me that they are still working on it. I guess they're trying to wait when most of the stores are open. I don't know why i wanted to know so bad, I guess that's part of my fatal attraction to the TV Screens!
  6. Why doesn't anyone seem to know the answer to the jumbotron screens? I thought they only had until opening day to put them up? That question's been asked here like 10 times and been ignored each time.
  7. I like the blue on the side facing Discovery Green. Just as long as they don't try to decoarate it with Christmas lights like all the other buildings were doing for a while.
  8. I noticed that too. It looks pretty badass from Discovery Green.I'm pretty sure its permanent. For one, i don't think Construction lighting would be colored and two, the lights can't creep into the apartments that easily because of the balconies. Lockmt, haven't you ever been to Orlando or Las Vegas where the flood lights are on the apartments, hotels or condos. Is it ever really an issue?
  9. ACTUALLY, last night driving downtown, i officially decided that i like the new lighting. It makes more of a distinction in the skyline. However, if they do end up going back blue, i hope they use a light blue that's just as noticable as this.
  10. I just wanted to know what everyone thinks of the new lighting on the crown of the Continential Building. Personally, i miss the blue lighting with the Continential logo but i still like the new lighting because its a little more pronounced. Does anyone know why they stopped the blue lighting?
  11. That's what I'm wondering. I asked about the glowing skyrings and lights earlier. Since no one on haif seems to be able to answer the question, I'll send an email to the adress listed on the website.
  12. I drove down there last night to see the crowd for the Jay-Z concert. The police had that block blocked off so no cars could pass. However, all the hoopla about how the skyrings were supposed to light up and glow. I was disappointed. If that's the spectactular way they're supposed to glow and be stunning, then I have to say I was expecting more. I guess all the lighting hasn't been installed yet because this thing isnt quite finished. Anyone know if the lighting is complete on this thing?
  13. I make 23,000 a year before taxes. Yeeah!!! BABY! BABY!
  14. Sounds like a cool idea. So the hotel cocept must be dead. Am I right?
  15. My dreamlist for tennants: NikeTown ESPN Zone Frenchy Chicken Virgin Records Movie Theater (maybe)
  16. I wasn't really compliaining about the jumbotrons not being installed, I was just trying to ask if anyone knew if they were supopsed to be MOTIONLESS screens or MOTION screens like in Dallas. If they're MOTIONLESS like the ones on the Toyota Center and Hobby Center, then I'm not that excited!
  17. I thought this thing was supposed to be open on Oct 8th. And the signage hasn't been installed yet. Does anyone know if the video screens that are going up, are they supposed to be motion screens or still screens? Anyway. i'm tired of waiting.
  18. While i'm excited about this development, I'm very disappointed in the architecture and the miniscule lighting effects so far. I thought this thing was supposed to be ornamented with video screens?
  19. I wish Houston would quit being so damn cheap and build a transportation system the right way (grade separated) rather than having to do it anyway by the time 610 loop densifies and building costs are trippled.
  20. Yeah we know they'll probably be a delay because of the most recent events
  21. I've been back in Houston for a year and havent seen it lit up at all.
  22. You called that one right! I think the skyline looks better without the christmas lights too. I miss the lighting on the Wedge Tower. I wish they'd bring that back.
